Peggy mixes contemporary material with older songs on these two album, but whatever she sings, she does it her way brilliantly.

The first album, Natural woman, contains covers of All of a sudden my heart sings (Kathryn Grayson - from the movie Anchors aweigh), Don't smoke in bed (Billie Holiday), Can I change my mind (Tyrone Davis), Dock of the bay (Otis Redding), You make me feel like a natural woman (Aretha Franklin), Everyday people (Sly and the family Stone), Please send me someone to love (Percy Mayfield), Spinning wheel (Blood sweat and tears) and I think it's gonna rain today (Randy Newman). May of these are classic songs but Peggy's often-different interpretations bring a freshness to them.

So many compilations that are called Ultimate fail to live up to the title, but this contains everything I want from a Neil Diamond double CD. Shilo is the only significant omission but it's not that important and there is plenty else to compensate. Unlike some of his compilations, all the tracks here are original studio recordings – no live cuts.

All the really essential songs are here, including Sweet Caroline, Song sung blue, Crackling Rosie, Love on the rocks, Beautiful noise, Forever in blue jeans, If you know what I mean, Play me, I am I said, Solitary man, Cherry cherry, Brother love's travelling salvation show, Kentucky woman, America, Holly holy and his classic duet with Barbra Streisand, You don't bring me flowers.

This is one of the best collections of Neil Diamond material available. Neil's gifts as a performer and songwriter have always been admired and this collection delivers in spades. The sheer range of quality music is breathtaking. Neil Diamond deservedly has a reputation for excellence and that can be heard here. I can't recommend this 3-disc set highly enough - it's just wonderful!

Hot August Night 2, is the follow up album to Hot August Night 1 which was one f the best and highly acclaimed live albums in the 70's.
The sequel recorded in the Greek Theatre in LA, maybe not as good as the original, but still contains some of Neil's early greats like Cracklin Rosie, Sweet Caroline and I am I Said amongst others.

Over all this album is ok but as it gets going Neils voice begins to get tired and very rough indeed spoiling some of his great tracks, however this is a bad thing its just putting more of Neils emotion into the tracks, something wich Neils live perfomances are famed.

If you like Neils Live albums then get this one, it may not be his best but Its very good all the same!
