Global Underground is perhaps one of the most consistent series in Dance music & this offering is no different. Perhaps bettered only by John's previous offering from Sydney & Sasha's legendary contributions this album really shos his class. A more controlled funk than his Hong Kong album this sees John put in an altogether tight mix which eases between the funky house style which he moved towards with the previous release & the more progressive tracks which have made him so popular. CD1 offers great tracks in Tomiie Satoshi's "Love in Traffic" & Photek's "Mine To Give", easing us through the mix at an even pace. With the parties of 1999 and Millenium over, you could say the dance market changed dramatically. As if an era was over, Ministry of Sound ended an era of DJ mixed Annuals, Gatecrasher went commercial 'with National Anthems' and the music itself had turned to house gradually after a year of pure trance. Thankfully, one album proves that trance never died, and that Ibiza was 'the' place to be... The follow up to the original album, this is my view a better album than the first. Some may disagree, but this is actually less of a commercial album. Matt Darey, although a good DJ, didn't give it a true clubbing feel, which leaves it to be a sunset trance album. I have to admit, i didn't really know who this guy was when I bought this cd, but he knows how to dj. The concoction of house music and his placement is world class, he seriously knows wat he is doing. From the funky tribal house beats at the start, to the peaks of ecstasy in the middle which treables your soul. Then he has the talent to finish it off with peaceful damn right funky house music, this is truly one of the best cd's i have in my posession, jon marsh is in that 5% of brilliant dj's
