If you're a Walker Brothers fan then you simply have to own this box set. No question.
The documentation is flawed. Particularly bad are the recording details, so you are given no clue as to where the 13 'previously unreleased' tracks that make up the second half of the third CD, including the alternative take of The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine (Anymore) [sic] come from, which is annoying and clumsy.
The notes are a bit gushing, but manage to keep enthusiasm from running away with the whole thing...
All in all, this is a damn fine set but obviously, considering its scope, aimed at hardcore fans.

There's a certain and very warm feeling which runs through you when you hear any one of The Walker Brothers hits from the 60's. Maybe it was the orchestration, or the BIG production, but it was their trademark, like how your ears immediately prick up when you hear the trumpet right at the beginning of 'The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore' and you get goosebumps all over. Their voices and the backing just have that effect, and the girls' at school used to swoon over them as if they were The Beatles. They toured a great deal and played Bournemouth Winter Gardens with Jimi Hendrix on the same bill, and that's how I happened to see them back in their hey-day. There isn't a bad track on here, but those old singles just take the edge over the other tracks.
