First off, Slug, the frontman emcee of Atmosphere is probably one the greatest emcees of this modern time. Poetic, witty and extremely talented, he continues to provide an element to hip hop so many other artists lack - depth. Ive been listening to Atmosphere for about 5 years now, and Ive never tired of hearing him. Slug is not afraid to delve into issues of himself, issues that remain fairly emotional and personal. Passionate and intelligent, Slug does this with a swagger and sophistication of a lyrical genius, and this album, Sevens Travels is no different. I heard my first track from 'Scott' in 1967 when I was 17. He sang on 'The Billy Cotton Band Show', a bizarre choice for the LP's premiere; NME at the time thought so too, describing variety programme'Band Show' as having a "luvverly bunch of coconuts" atmosphere to it and here was Scott Walker singing 'My Death'. Over 40 years ago and I still remember it vividly. I sat alone in the family home,a Lancashire terrace, lights off (we did that in those days, don't ask me why) as I watched the telly. Scott looked almost ready to run for his life. He was always a nervous performer and his hands shook very visibly. Unlike some box sets this is not targeted at the completist who wants all of the outtakes etc. If you are a fan of Scott Walker but only have the first four solo albums plus the later stuff (Tilt etc) then this is a good purchase. It means you can cover off the best bits of his '60s Walker Bros and '70s solo career plus out of print (comparative) rarities like 'Til The Band Comes In and his four tracks from Nite Flites (which are sensational, by the way). If you are a Scott novice this box probably provides you with all the tracks you will need, since it contains the essential stuff as well. Each CD is based around a theme, making the listening experience a coherent one.

This is not for Walker fanatics as this doesn't contain any rare unreleased tracks. This collection is really for the fans that owe the greatest hits and want to expand on that. It has been compiled with excellence, it contains the best material from his career, including some of my favs: Mrs Murphy,My Death and In my room.FANTASTIC!! Absolutely priceless stuff.You listen to the collection and you here the artists so influenced by Scott Walker: 'Marc Almond','The divine comedy'. Both Brilliant artists but would they be the same without Scott? Highly recommended.Your cd collection will always be incomplete without it.5 DISCS! WOW!
