Having lived with a Wagner fanatic for many years I at first endured the Ring but after a few listenings came to appreciate what Wagner was about. I've always liked Verdi & Puccini but Wagner is on a different plane altogether. The four CD sets that make up the Goodall ring are in my opinion stunning. Rita Hunter and the rest of the cast were at the top of their game and Reginald Goodall's conducting is amazing. Unlike Solti (which would have to be my other recommendation) who drives the operas on at a quite a lick, Goodall's tempo throughout finds that little something extra within the score.

Fantastic 2CD set, collecting 4 cd ep's together. Throughout 1998 & 99 (i think) Coil released 4 ep's - one for each season - of beautiful tonal, experimental, atmopheric music, which earned them great respect and many plaudits. Frankly i had lost interest in Coil before this period, and it was these ep's that got me back into them. As a collection, its an absolute joy to have them together and proves that Coil are one of the finest bands around.

Out of the four live albums recently released, this is definitely the most impresive. That is not to say that the others are bad, but this album has the best sound quality and the most exclusive tracks, including a cover of Sonny Bono's 'Bang Bang' which is actually listenable to! It is also the most brutal of the four, with a real sense of menace pervading over large parts of the album; notably on 'The Universe is a Haunted House'. Coil are one of the most interesting and innovative outfits around, and this album does a good job of catching just how exciting they can be live when in full flow.

I am not quite sure what type of heavy metal Soilwork are classed as, metalcore or just modern metal?, either way I really couldn't give a flying circus because in my opinion Natural Born Chaos is an outstanding and modern metal masterpiece and I absolutely love it, I know for certain because everytime I listen to it, I think to myself I am so glad that this exsists. At just over 40 minutes long it absolutely flys by and there is not one album filler to be heard. I can promise you, I don't just rate this album highly because I haven't heard much metal before. I have a massive collection of heavy metal/rock from the 1960's to the present and I wouldn't have wasted my time commenting on this if I didn't like it as much as I do.
