It does take a while to get used to the English singing, but it also really helps to get the jokes across. I was splitting my sides when I first listened to it, there are some real gems in this translation (A prime example being in the middle of Susanna and Marcellina's duet as they exchange insults: 'Your quality/ Your quantity').

The conducting is wonderful, always taken at a brilliant pace by that great Mozartian David Parry. The cast are spot on, the only real exception being Yvonne Kenny's Countess (a good voice, just a bit too much vibrato here). I especially love Christopher Purves' Figaro, William Dazeley's Count, Jonathan Veira's Bartolo, John Graham Hall's Basilio and Sarah Tynan's Barbarina. Purves is perfect in his role; ... Read More:

Joyful recording of a very under-rated opera, with crystal clear acoustics. The Philharmonia Orchestra is outstanding and the CD is worth buying just to listen to the overture. If I am being very picky then I have to say that the singing is a little uneven in parts; for my tastes Ninetta sometimes too dramatic; Giannetto too down beat. But nevertheless a 2-disc set I am very glad to own.

Like the coming of the rapture I fall to my knees on hearing the new album from the darkest of the dark - Cradle of Filth one of the only things not in decline thanks to the credit crunch...

With a few steps back as far as feel goes and several steps forward artistically the new album holds all the elements that has made Cradle who they are today, a full on darkest of operas pack to the horns with love, death & debauchery - everything you want and need from a Filth album and I'll be really interested to see how this latest offering translates to their live shows.

All in all an album crafted on the Devil's own sound desk and sent forth into the mortal world to turn us all to the darker side, after all they don't play ... Read More:

One friday night at the Red Rose theatre in Rugeley, Staffordshire i saw this band in all their mad glory!!!! they are just as good live as they are recorded unlike a lot of bands i know of that music genre. their pumping riffs and thrashing sound cut through my ears like a jackhammer and their epic solos are something for them to be proud of. if i was to choose a band that would become a sound for this generation i would definetly pick Area 54. The album could very well make them as popular as some of the nu metal bands we have today and it is a pinicle in thrash. so please if you are a fan of bands of thre likes of Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer you'll love this!!!! BUY IT NOW!!!!!!
