For me it's easily one of the albums of the year. A great trancey acoustic trip reminiscent of early 70s krautrock, in particular Amon Duu I in some ways. I am not much of a fan of earlier Young Gods but I really rate this album. The 12 minute version of Suicde's Ghost Rider is a revelation. Listen to the 1 finger synth pulse which kicks in at the 6 minute mark. Incredible. Simple yet very effective.

As the old proverb states, it's easy to be brave behind your castle walls. Edinburgh-based musician Steve Adey certainly must have considered this statement when choosing a Radiohead composition to cover. He could have followed the tried and trusted paths as the likes of Moby, Damien Rice and Alanis Morrisette and chosen the safe option in "Creep". Instead, Adey bravely opts for "Everything In Its Right Place", easily one of Radiohead's most abstract songs. And a fine job he does with it too. Stripping it down to the bare elements, Adey's take on "EIIRP" is almost unrecognizable from Radiohead's leftfield original. I LOVE this album. Although before i bought it i admit i was fairly clueless towards dub. I looked up dub on wikipedia as a result of this album. If you have things to do, you love radiohead, and need some background music to get things done this is the album for you! Altogether i find this album an easy listen and an interesting spin on some old classic radiohead songs..... Enjoy!

I first came across Brad Mehldau as few years ago on a record with Lee Konitz. Having subsequently seen him live on three occasions, it is clear that he has a fantstic technique and an approach to the piano (not to mention touch) that recalls Bill Evans. (Listen to "Dreamsville" for example.)This record is a very good representation of the music that I have heard him play on his gigs and is as good a statement of the current state of mainstream jazz piano that you are likely to hear. Mehldau selects an interesting range of material, largely based on standards, but not afraid to include some Monk, Radiohead and, perhaps the most surprisingly successful track on the album, a number by Paul Simon. ignore the negatives surrounding this box set as even though they are not remastered and look as though its a cash cow by EMI since Radiohead have released new material for downloading for whatever price a fans pays but this box set is good value for money as most shops would sell each album for under redicoulous prices and getting all seven albums for thirty pund is a real bargain.

Sorry but I have to say there are a lot of elitist Radiohead 'fans' who seem to think they own the band and less knowledgeable need to be kept out. Well apart from their parents all fans started somewhere along the releases and these fantastic tracks will spawn another generation of fans.
