The three CDs are filled with superb remastered and totally authentic recordings that span the incredible career of Frankie Valli and The four Seasons. The quality is superb, the versions presented here are the originals, in stereo or mono as is appropriate. The DVD is wonderful - classic live performances of the group at its peak. Of especial note are the 1971 TOTP recordings of Let's Hang On and I've Got You Under My Skin, both live, very well recorded and very true to the 1971 stage sound. Frankie's voice is at its best and this has to be heard loud to get the full dramatic impact. Thoroughly recommended.

If you like classic pop sung by a superb harmony group, but you've heard only some of the Four Seasons' singles, buy this for a real treat.

Three of these songs topped the UK charts in cover versions - "Silence is Golden", "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" and "Bye Bye Baby" (which was a beautiful song until the Rollers mangled it). Others, such as "Beggin" and "C'Mon Marianne", were minor UK hits in cover versions.

The Seasons did some cover versions themselves, including a brilliant rearrangement of Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin", an emotional "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and a hilarious remake of "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" (I'd love to know Dylan's reaction to this).

At least the terrible Wonder Who track isn't on but this "Definitive"-one of many-includes most of the key songs.
The classic period was the 1962-66 years when so many of the B sides were as good as the A sides.
The reason why Capitol decided to invest in the Beatles was no doubt because I want to hold your hand sounded more like a 4 Seasons record than the previous ones they'd rejected but the Vee Jay label was able to milk both with the album The 4 Seasons versus the Beatles.

This is the one - any best of the 4 seasons should have all of these tracks on it. Apart from the gorgeous singing and the great songs listen to the drum and rhythm guitar sound; I always thought this was a big influence on Bruce Springsteen's sound circa 'Born To Run', and this impression is strengthened by Springsteen's guitarist, co-star and musical consultant of 'the Sopranos', Steve Van Zandt's choice of a few 4 seasons numbers for the Sopranos' soundtrack (Frankie Valli, 4 seasons phenomenal lead singer, had a sizable recurring role in the series, too). This is majestic pop music, up with the best of Phil Spector or early Tamla Motown, True it doesn't have Sherry Baby, or working My Way Back To You, or the later stuff they're better remembered ...
