In a year when Wilco failed to deliver with the bland Sky Blue Sky, RF came along and provided the salvation with, imho, the best album of 2007. Willy's stories are as lucid and plaintive as ever, but it's the musical arrangement which makes this a truly outstanding effort as it compliments each desperate and broken refrain perfectly. It's a long time since I listened to an album and found myself knowing all the words to heart, but this is how these songs creep up on you. Since then I've invested in RF's back catalogue (yep - i've come late to the party!), and although Post to Wire and the Fitzgerald are themselves deserving of 5 stars, Thirteen Cities remains the beautiful and stark beacon that the likes of Wilco - and even RF - will be measured ... This is a superb mini-album, The previous reviewer hits the nail on the head - its full of more songs about people on the edge. Go and buy it, and yes - they are incredible live!

Joyful recording of a very under-rated opera, with crystal clear acoustics. The Philharmonia Orchestra is outstanding and the CD is worth buying just to listen to the overture. If I am being very picky then I have to say that the singing is a little uneven in parts; for my tastes Ninetta sometimes too dramatic; Giannetto too down beat. But nevertheless a 2-disc set I am very glad to own.

right then, i have actually bought this album and i have to say it's not that bad, with some okay classic hard house/hard trance tunes. now for the other reviwer, here are some words of advice, do not review on a type of music that you are not into, as it sends the wrong message across to people who like this music, its just your opinion on dance music and im sure that there are many, many people out there who dislike your music. so do not waste your time writing reviews in your attemps to sway buyers views on hard house music. my advice is, if your new to this music and wish to try it out, buy a CD for yourself and do not listen to somebody who clearly dislikes this music.

yes, well, i was searching amazon for a cd to buy and i came across this... this psycho music. and to my amazement, i like it, im into hard house music such as frantic euphoria. but this is a change, notice the title says the history of hard house, but im telling you now this is not hard house (listen for youself). I put an order on this cd a few days ago. but in the mean time i went through every sample of every song across the 2 cd's, and im telling you now, it sounds wierd, but ace, i cant wait to get it to fully update this review for you all.
