If you're looking for any CD's with movie music, this would be my first, and only, stop. There's something for everyone, and although stuff like the Indiana Jones theme is missing, and the opera CD (Disc 5) is a little week, the likes of "Ride of the Valkiryies" and "Ode to Joy" is just timeles, and best of all, immortalised by the films they're featured in, the compliment of all compliments to these films. It's very cheap to, I would highly recommend this.

The excellent Product Discripton and review by by Keith Clarke says it all with this CD so I will limit my review comments to the actual musical arrangements by Richard Hayman. Although Richard has been around for a long time arranging many different albums for Naxos and other labels,I have never found his arrangements to be particularly inspiring or original.The use of what is termed vertical writing for orchestra,in simple terms the over use of block chords and lack of counter melody or counterpoint is always evident in his arrangements. This is the "old school" way of doing things and makes for a heavy old fashioned sounding performance.Of course there are some good arrangements in some of his recordings but this particular CD is a ... This CD provided a great way to preview songs for my wedding. The CD had a good song selection. My fiancé and I were able to get a better idea of how the songs would be at our wedding - definitely worthwhile doing! This recording captures the true beauty of a church wedding like none of the other wedding cds that I've bought (and I've bought a few!). This is a CD that brides to be should not be without.

About everyone enjoys the Last Night of the BBC Proms. Many love the old songs like 'Rule Britannia' and 'Jerusalem'. Yet there is so much more here like Shostakovitch's 'Tea For Two' and Berlioz's 'Hungarian March' to enjoy. But it loses that final star for having to many omissions like Holst's 'Mars' and Elgar's 'Nimrod' which could have made this a perfect set.

I first got into Styx after hearing to Kilroy Was Here on Vinyl (wow, i'm only 19!)and then bought the Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight. Those albums were great AOR Rock, but then i saw this in a HMV and decided to give it a go. Wow! Buy this album for just the beautifully remastered quality of these recordings, which would blow most modern efforts out of the water (are you hearing this Ben Hillier?). Styx II is probably the best album out of the four and contains 'Lady', a hit two years after this was released. All the cuts on this album are top notch and display a more progressive side that was eventually abandoned after 1975's Equinox. Buy this CD and get these recordings back into the public arena where they belong!
