This album made me go shakey at the hips, all kinds of new stuff, old tunes and the ones that you hear in all the most wickedest clubs when you've had one to many to speak to the DJ. Track 5 on CD1 is my fave, but won't be to everyone's taste due to the swearing.

Norman Blake is a wonderful guitarist in the hillbilly/ oldtime/ bluegrass style. This CD is a live recording at a guitar shop in California in front of an appreciative audience. It's a mixed set: some solo, some with Nancy Blake on cello and there's some fiddle in there too. This is a pretty good demo of Norman Blake's talents. The set is a mixture of traditional and his own tunes. As well as the tunes, because it's live, you also get something of a feel for the man as well which is interesting. He comes over as quite quiet and unassuming. The standard of playing is stunning. If Robert Johnston really did go down to the crossroads then I think Norman Blake was in line right behind him.
