I have never been into classical music, however the TV programs Maestro and Last Choir standing (I know trash TV... sorry) made me realise I did like some classical music. So time to test that theory, and of course this CD fitted the bill perfectly, a bit of everything and 99% you will probably know. Good album, maybe I may have discovered culture :-)

This is a good collection of popular classical pieces, suitable for a bit of background music for a romantic evening or simply for an hour's relaxing listening. As with the other albums in the `Classic FM For' series released in 2004 and 2005, each track is just a single movement - generally the best known one - from the entire piece so it provides a nice variety of music from a range of composers. But, there is an abundance of classical music collections like these and many are box sets offering better value than this single CD so it does face strong competition in an ever increasing market. This 2CD release is a great collection of classical music which bears no real relevance to the 2008 in the title other than being released almost (!) in 2008. The only common factor between all the tracks is that they are all, without exception, performed by top artists, making the album both highly recommended and, considering the numerous different performers who are included, guaranteed to please most listeners. The album doesn't make any 'Best of', 'Ultimate' or 'The Only One You'll ever Need' claims because quite simply anyone who likes it will probably want more, the obvious choice of course is the inevitable 'Classical 2009' release next year. The first CD of this collection is quite good, the second is pretty good too. They are both quite mellow and relaxing. The third CD is too odd and new agey. The fourth CD is quite brooding and not at all relaxing, it's mainly Bach music with cheap and nasty synth effects played over the top.

I purchased this three disc collection while on holiday in England this past summer. It has provided hours and hours of enjoyment whether as a lights out, chill out or daytime background music. The discs are packaged in a book-like format which includes some beautiful pictures of Great Britan's natural treasures. In addition there are brief explanations of the various selections. The fact that a portion of the proceeds goes to the National Trust is yet a further bonus. If you enjoy collections ala Classic FM, this eclectic mixture is just right for you. Excellent value.

My knowledge of classical music is not so advanced, but it is a breed of music you must learn to appreciate if you get what I mean. I am to keen to expand my knowledge of classical music, so buying this album is a great starting point. Classical music is a breed of music which existed long time ago and is really old fashioned, but a real pleasure to listen to. It is very much instrumental orientated. You can hear the piano, violin or the flute with their distinctive sounds in the background. The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the World is an excellent album featuring and honouring the talents of all the major acts to embrace their names in classical music combined in four CDs. If you're looking for any CD's with movie music, this would be my first, and only, stop. There's something for everyone, and although stuff like the Indiana Jones theme is missing, and the opera CD (Disc 5) is a little week, the likes of "Ride of the Valkiryies" and "Ode to Joy" is just timeles, and best of all, immortalised by the films they're featured in, the compliment of all compliments to these films. It's very cheap to, I would highly recommend this.
