Yes indeed. If like me you were underwhelmed by this coming after the harder sound of Chicken Shack then it is worth another listen. The remastered sound is excellent, Christine's melancholy vocals tug the heartstrings and the extra tracks are real finds. As noted elswhere "It's You I Miss" wouldn't have disgraced Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac, and "Hey Baby" is a fine rollicking blues with some excellent piano. Of the original album I've always had a soft spot for the downbeat ache of "No Road is the Right Road" and "I'm On My Way"'s understated brass arrangement and weary vocals get me every time. So why only four stars? Well, if you just adore Christine Perfect/McVie you'll probably love this. Myself I think this was made in a period of transition ... Read More:

Blues in the album chart? Almost felt like a moral obligation to buy this. I can see that Simply Red fans will be confused and its not normal fare for blues fans but its mostly well done and there isn't a huge amount of truly modern blues that can cross over into wider tastes and if Mick doesn't sing as well as Bobby its still credit to him for bringing his hero to wider attention.
The dvd is interesting. Mick comes across as a bit of an arse but talks about this as his future musical direction so it will be interesting to see if that holds true.
Work in progress then.

Bobby Blue Bland is rightly accalaimed as one of the greatest ever blues singers and this album clearly demonstrates why. If you are only going to purchase one album by Bobby Bland then I urge you to buy this one. All the songs are great with superb vocal range. My favourite is his version of "Stormy Monday Blues" which I put in the same category as the T Bone Walker version. Brilliant!

Not out and out blues, more like bluesy soul or somehwere in between. Wherever it is, it's excellent. "Shoes" is my all-time favourite Bobby Bland track. If I was gonnae be picky I would have added "Poverty" and "Getting Used to the Blues" to this compilation but then again my taste is more soulful than bluesy......If you like BB King (his old mate) then buy this too !

The first time I heard Albatross was when it was first released and fell in love with it. All of UK then shared my liking and it became no.1. But when I finally got hold of the album,a long play then,I discovered I'd Rather Go Blind and fell in love with the song immediately. The album is a marriage between a fantastic blues band and a fantastic blues lady with a fantastic voice. It is a rare album which I consider should be at par with the other great blues albums but sad to say, it is not so. It is a collector's item not in the sense of having the record or the cd physically but the two great songs being in one's possession and listening to them over and over again and not get bored with them. This album is a must have for all blues hard cores!
