3 cds, 1 & 2 mixed by Sharkey and Kevin Energy. I've lost count of how often I've pondered just how brilliant that combination would be. They collaborated on "200% Nu Energy" to great effect. They've done great things separately, particularly on the "Bonkers" and "Hardcore Heaven" compilations. Together, they're every bit as good as you'd expect. The third disc is mixed by K Complex, Arkitech and Eryk Orpheus and is blindingly good. The 2nd disc, "Freeformation Anthems", is maybe the weak link, consisting of fairly familiar tunes, but anything normal would suffer in comparison with the other two; "Freeformation Creators", the rather trancey one, and "Freeformation Residents", the aural assault on all fronts. Kevin Energy turns in the kind of DJ set he's become a legend for on the underground scene. I remember being there the night this was recorded and the guy's a star, he really knows how to work a dancefloor and make it explode. The tracks here do just that - banging hard dance tunes from the Nu Energy label all mixed to perfection by a DJ at the top of his game. Very hard and bouncy to keep you moving, this disc just flows from beginning to end like a fast flowing stream and is a very good representation of what the Nu Energy collective are doing on the underground scene. This is a live recording of the increasingly popular Nu Energy Collective Live show, which has recently been taking the underground rave scene by storm. If you're not familiar with their style of music, its basically (very) hard trance. Note that when I say hard I mean in terms of speed (its got the most rapid tempo of any cd I've ever listened to), not in terms of being extremely deep and dark. In fact, the tunes are relatively uplifting and euphoric, just a lot quicker than conventional trance. Ok, this is the hardcore you've all been waiting for, if you hate the way hardcore has been going lately (clubland 3, 4, hardcore adrenaline etc) then GET THIS NOW!!!! The energy cd iz absolutely stompin!!! Dark tracks full of bangin bass that u just can't sit still to!!! And Weaver's mix is so deep, tunes full of meaning, i seriously can't stop listening to this compilation, the best hardcore has seen since bonkers 15!!! And then there's good old scotty brown, kickin' it down 4 da core! The only gripe i have about his mix is i've already got most of the tunes on other CD's, but that's cuz i get 'em all lol! Seriously get this right now old style bonkers ravers!!!!!!

I'm going to focus on the Dougal Disk here, as it's this that I purchased the cd for. Well it's been a few years since Bonkers 13 was released, and I still find that the Dougal CD is the best hardcore CD I've heard to this day. The Brisk and Kevin Energy CDs on Hardcore Heaven 1 (the one with cartoon artwork of a wierd helmet) are on par in my opinion. The CD really gets you in a euphoric state of mind, a hardcore paradise if you will. The aptly named "Heaven on Earth" is my favourite track on a mix that builds up beautifully. I think the tune selection is great, they all have mad, clean sounding euphoric riffs, along with some screeching synths in "Xtreme" and "Get Hype."
