We have been listening to this CD on repeat play for several weeks, and we all know the words to all the songs!!!! As a grown up I don't mind this at all, because they are so much fun. This is a cheese-free CD, packed with belting little tunes for the whole family to sing along to. If the usual commercial children's compilations made of crappy chart pop 'hits' makes you want to hurl, you'll probably love this. We also like 'they might be giants' kids cd's, some of the smithsonian pathways albums for kids, putumatayo for kids (especially animal playground) and the save the children compilations 'for the kids' 1, 2 and 3. Our kids are all 6 and under, but we have had an 8 year old and 11 year old bopping away to this CD ... Read More:

Eliza Carthy, Karine Polwart, Luka Bloom (Christy Moore's brother Barry) - what's not to like? Anyone who has been in touch with the contemporary folk scene in recent years will find much to enjoy here. My own joy was finding a track by the wonderful Mary Gauthier - her "I Drink" was a festival highlight for me a few years ago. This CD is cheap enough for dedicated fans to give to friends who are convinced that folk is Fair Isle jumpers, beards and hands over ears. This has to be the best value CD in my collection - not a duff track in the mix. There are several live versions as is common with albums of this type, but none that make you hastily skip a track. Acoustic chill delivers, albeit in a somewhat mellow manner. A lot of thought has obviously gone into selecting and arranging the tracks on these 2 cds, it melds together too the degree i actually thought the whole cd was by the same artist, with varied vocalists. The vibe is consistent, although a couple more killer tracks needed to raise out of the background (hence the four stars). There is a lack of real standout tunes. Imagine a Nick Drake vs Badly Drawn Boy and your most of the way there.
