One morning I was happy going about my business, when I found myself feeling rather sleepy, a colored gas filled the room...the next thing I know I was tied to a chair, a mysterious figure puts a CD on...

There's something deeply disturbing about this album, I don't know, maybe it's the fact that within a few minutes we hear a gorgeous string arrangement (you can just imagine the birds tweeting), then straight into a march, then a manic jazz piece! Add to the recipe a big dollop of typical prisoner dialogue and you have this album.

strange? Yes, and its brilliant!

I do own the original issues of these alums, but they never really worked for me, they just seemed thrown together, a collection of music, that's all... ... Read More:

Wow !! The remastered DVD is fantastic & this CD supplements it with the soundtrack of the film & the live performance from the "bonus" DVD of the two disc DVD package.
The live recording in particular crackles with energy & excitement. You can feel the hysteria & you can feel the quality - this really does make you wish you could see Marc live again.
The film soundtrack CD is also of the highest quality & offers ample evidence of just how good Marc could be.
Just fantastic all round.

The first disc is very good, it is put together and mixed well and represents a good Small flavour of UK garrage. There are no bad tracks and the beats vairy more than expected. The second Disc of remixes is a bit disapointing and sounds like it was hurried together as an add on. The compilation would have been better served by extending the best tracks on the first CD (moving too fast could have done with more than 4 minutes). Worth buying on the strenth of the first CD

I had this on vinyl in the 70s, and it's a glaring reminder that records used to have two sides. Side 1 is appalling, almost unlistenable - from Eno's squawks to the lumbering dirges contributed by the former Velvets, Cale and Nico. I think I played it once. Side 2 however is pure joy. The great Kevin Ayers strolls out to sing five proper songs with a kind of lazy exuberance and the sort of easy charm that only slightly posh Englishmen seem to have. The band are tight and the guitar solos by Mike Oldfield and the underrated Ollie Halsall are exquisite.

Some critics have observed that this performance would not give new listeners any indication of Ayers' seminal role in the British experimental and "progressive" rock music scene of the ... Read More:
