This may keep the squirrels off but it does not keep the rain off. It seems that the water is either running down the suspension wire directly into the seed holder or down the narrow tube at the very top, either way it is ok in a light shower but in the rain the water gets in, makes the seeds wet and they clump together. So I have to throw away the seeds after a downpour. But is fine in the sun.

I set this up 4days ago it looks very good and the gold finches found the new position of their feeder. But it took the squirrels about half an hour to get to grips with it! It seems to be a squirrel feeding station as they put the birds off, I have plans for something to stop them getting up the pole

I was so excited about this feeder: 2 days after hanging it for the first time, the squirrels had figured it out. It didn't make any difference where I located it - I even replaced the wire supplied with a much longer one and hung it up really high, but they just absailed down the wire! Having sppent much time and money repairing feeders ravaged by squirrels this seems to be almost 100% squirrel proof. I think the smallish size means squirrels cant get a decent grip and I have not found peanuts on the ground like other so-called squirrel proof feeders. It works in my garden.
