I was given a sun jar recently, and it really is absolutely beautiful. There isn't enough light to read by, but the glow it gives is so very comforting and cosy, and for atmospheric mood lighting, I can't imagine anything nicer. It makes a wonderful nightlight - very warm and soothing, and because it doesn't plug into the wall, you don't need to worry about frying your lampshades or wasting electricity. Its being a jar very much adds to the romance of it; almost as if you went on a picnic that day, went into the woods with a jar to catch tadpoles or butterflies and caught the sun instead - really sort of magical. This product looks good - simple and streamlined, and does the job. However, as another reviewer has already mentioned, the glow it gives off is bright green - not even a hint of blue! When I first plugged it in it reminded me more of a spooky green haunted house type of light! Aside from the colour, the glow it gives off is not too bright and after a night of it being plugged in it does not get hot to the touch which is great. I would recommend this item as long as you are happy with the light being green rather than blue.

I bought this for my son when he moved into a flat with no cooking facilities, after reading other reviews. He reports that he is very impressed with its performance. It heats quickly and is easy to keep clean.

I had my doubts before it arrived due to the somewhat mixed reviews that it has received. However, I try to always be as objective as possible but I cannot honestly fault this device. I wound it for one minute as instructed and the lamp delivers ample lighting in very dark areas without fading for at least one hour. Of course, it does not have the brightness of battery powered lanterns but the light output would be very sufficient for a tent in the middle of nowhere in the pitch black. Recieved these lights just 4 days after ordering them. They're a smashing set, especially for the money! They look pretty good too! I got 10 instead of 8 and they all work, no tinkering or messing. The steel tubes are sharp on the edges so be careful when pushing them together. Altogether a nice set at a very good price. I'd recommend them.

Quite simply this is the best wind-up torch I have ever used. It is brighter and lighter than expected, the battery lasts longer than I have ever used it for, and I have not even had to use the USB charging feature. It comes with a panic alarm, which is annoying but not very loud but I don't anticipate ever using it. It looks good and feels comfortable in the hand. Delivery arrived next day. Great for use in powercuts or to have in the car.

When this torch arrived I was surprised at how large it is. Think Cucumber! It feels like a big lump of plastic that is mostly full of air, which it is. Turning the torch on lights a single LED that is ok, and would be pretty impressive if this were a keyring torch, but it is not, and it looks disappointing considering the size of the thing. I think I am going to put this one in the car as it does not weigh much, and it is too big and ugly to keep in the house. My advice is to buy a traditional wind-up torch they are much smaller and brighter.

I've used one of these all summer for camping trips. Previously I used a standard torch with rechargeable AA batteries but these can have a habit of dying just when they're needed and it's expensive to keep buying fresh sets. This torch is just the job. It provides sufficient illumination for in a tent, walking around a camp site in pitch black and has been very useful at home during power cuts. It's lightweight, reliable and dependable and I know it's there when it's needed so I won't be reverting back to conventional battery-powered torches.
