I was basically forced to change from Office 2003 into 2007 when my computer crashed taking with it all installed programs (Microsoft actually had something to do with it ;) which I took as a sign from above (Bill Gates?) that I should bring my software a little up to date. After several weeks with the new software I am still undecided whether this was the right move. Frankly, I have yet to find a single function which would really make a difference. The new layout is fancier but this is not what I expect - I need quick access to rather basic functions instead of dozens of functions the purpose of which I will never discover. It looks good but not the same as before so there is some relearning required. But the biggest surprise of all is that it is frustratingly slow. I have iWorks but bought this because my wife kept saying that MS office was better, but even she now admits it's not. Only buy this if you absolutely have to, or if you have more patience than me.

Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition (3 User Licence) (PC) Just updated from 2003. what a brilliant programme, easy to install and very easy to use. I am not a professional user so this is great for us silver surfers to have. easy to install, easy to follow.

Have just loaded MS Office 2007 pack into my PC (XP system) and am very impressed with the new Word 2007 & Excel 2007 layouts. Unfortunately, I also tried to load the software into my wife's laptop (Vista operating system) but Vista doesn't like it - everytime she clicks on the Word 2007 icon the software starts installing itself all over again. Vista is really pretty awful - where's that nice button on Control Panel which says 'Install New Programs' - seems to have disappeared in Vista.

Microsoft never cease to amaze with their products.The 2008 version is even better with up to date revisions of current events, and many new introductions. It wins hands down over Encyclopaedia Brittanica in terms of user frendliness and content.

I find MS Office 2003 S&T edition meets most of my needs - but I miss Access, even though I only used it occasionally. Contrary to other people's experience, I can spell-check other languages - eg set Microsoft Office Language Settings to enable French, and then in Word under Tools/Language/Set Language tick "detect language automatically". This should find French text and spell-check it fine, even in mixed English/French documents.
