This software is not for the novice I had 3 full days training on this software before doing my accounts for a business of £1M turn over I find it relatively easy to use because I have been shown correctly You can make corrections - you just need to know the correct way to go about it. I also think it is essential to have a thorough knowledge of whats going on in your business as this helps you see see if there are any obvious errors in the reports which you can produce. This product is now out of date - you'll need to update the PAYE & NIC thresholds for the tax year 2006/07 This version comes with support for the Inland Revenue (now HMRC) secure mailbox - the only problem is this was scrapped by HMRC earlier this year and replaced by a totally different system. You'll also probably have to pay Sage another £99+VAT per year for Sage Support (which you'll need) when you encounter one of the many bugs & quirks that this ships with. It doesn't clear down report values from the previous tax year properly so you'll end up with confusing or just blatantly incorrect reports. Bought this direct from Tas as an upgrade from v5 only because I was assured it was compatible with Vista. Within 10 minutes, I found two errors. Contacted the sales rep, and was advised to contact TAS support - support gave me solutions for each problem. The first involved a reg update which didn't work - I later found out that the solution would only work if run in viata admin mode - TAS support didn't advise that. The other problem was that their new funtion "TAS Books Today" gave me the figures for 2005 not the current year - this required contacting support, and talking through a data maintenance routine to correct - I haven't contacted them about that. I’ve been using sage accounts for my small business for 4 years. To get beyond the very basics you need expensive and time-consuming training. My accountant recommended a simple spreadsheet accounting system, which I have been using for the last 4 months and I have to say, has been quite liberating. There are definitely better products out there and I would urge anyone looking for accounting software to avoid this product. Having said that, ‘Sages Payroll’ software is brilliant & I continue to use to this day.
