I have personally found 'Tiger' to be the most efficient OS X to date, and therefore a real favourite for a couple of years when I was working in a graphics department. Their is no doubt Leopard is a beautiful upgrade, containing a stated "300+ upgrades", however, it is by no means essential if you Mac is work work purposes. The extra features we've found are not for the productive side of things, but more for consolidating files, making things visually look better, and a few notable new programs.

In short, Leopard would no doubt be a great update for the Media orientated users, but if you're all work and no play, it's actually not that essential. "Snow Leopard" has already been announced for next year anyway, and was stated would ... Read More:

Sadly I found this product to be a waste of money. Apart from being twice the price of other applications of its sort it suffers from having one of the most frustrating and illogical flaws I have ever come across - it will not allow you to name your master files when imported from a camera.

This is the same flaw that exists with iPhoto too. Both programmes will let you call your files whatever you want - and in Aperture there are, as you'd expect, more way of doing it than in iPhoto. However, as soon as you drag or copy/paste a photo file OUT of the programme you will see that it has kept its original camera assigned numeric filename. Neither Aperture (or iPhoto for that matter) will allow you to change it. This infuriating quirk has forced ... Read More:

Having used Final Cut Express 3.5 for a while now, and after editing numerous projects I welcomed version 4's release however I must admit to being rather disappointed. The new features seem next to non-existant and although Apple are really pushing the new version I would be tempted to go with version 3.5 as your paying a lot less and getting basically the same package. Parhaps when version 5 is released in the future it will be a bit more of a step forward as opposed to a step sideways.

To the review about disk space above.... the other content is optional, you don't have to install it all.

Also, if you are trying to run this piece of higly advanced software on a mac with 60gb of space, then you need to think about upgrading.

Logic Pro Studio is better, generally, than all the other music creation/production software out there at the moment.

I used to use FCP 3 but for the past few years have been using Avid through my work. The beauty of FCP is the ease in which I've picked it up again. It's very instinctive. Of course, things have moved on and now we have FCS 2, and boy is it a powerful beast. I'm only scratching the surface of Color, Motion, Soundtrack and DVD Studio Pro but have been impressed by it's capabilities. There's plenty to keep me occupied during those longer winter evenings - girlfriend permitting.

Yes you will have to invest in a decent Mac, and these don't come cheap. However, the initial outlay is nothing compared to how much you can pay for some editing hardware with software; and these don't necessarily come with all the bells and whistles that FCS 2 comes with. ... Read More:

Make no bones about this - Logic Express 8 is *not* for someone to get to grips with over a cup of tea and a biscuit. This is the (slightly) cut-down brother of the excellent Logic Studio software (indeed it is a superset of Logic Express plus other tools). As a result you end up with an excellent professional tool at a *very* cheap price.

This product is highly recommended for those people who are *serious* about making music, as opposed to the people who like to play about with GarageBand. It has a steep learning curve but you will be glad you persevered.

You need as powerful a machine as you can possibly get for this software, however. My iMac G5 with 2GB RAM just about does OK, but one of the more powerful Intel-based Macs is recommended.
