Software : CorelDraw X3 Graphics Suite (PC)
I know that nothing will persuade die-hard Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop supporters to abandon their favorite software, but when you see what you get for £100 with Corel X3, when compared to about £1000 for the Adobe equivalent, the case is made, at least for me. I have to spend my own money when I buy software software.

Having used earlier versions some years ago, I found X3 easy to use and very stable in Win XP. Newbies should expect a steep learning curve, but that is only to be expected with software of this power and capability. Perseverance pays off, and once the initial effort is made learning becomes faster and easier.

I frequently prepare detailed sketches and scale technical drawings, and I find the ... Read More:

I am very surprised by most of the reviews here.

I can't tell you how disappointed I have been with PSP X. I have used version 7 for several years with no problems at all, it has been reliable and powerfull enough for my requirements ( I am no artist ), it is the reason that I bought X.

My experience of PSP X is that is is slow, especialy with pathed vectored text, it crashes so often that I have gone back to 7, the interface is cluttered by comparason, less intuitive with more eye-candy styling and less usability.

The version I have may be X1, though it has patched itself with downloads from the Corel site.

Overall .. I will not be using this product again.

I have been a long standing user of PSP but once Corel got thier hands on it it's all over.
PSP was a byword for effective, efficient and inexpensive photo editing software. Now it is none of these. Bloatware springs to mind and not cheap either. Do yourself a favour and find an old copy of PSP 7 it will do everything you ask and it will even run off your USB stick.
If you reaaly want to spend the cash, spend it on photoshop elements 6 or save your pennies for a few months and go for the full photoshop. Corel Photoshop is just waiting to drag your system down

Dear Hopeful Buyer,
I cannot beginning to express how disappointed I am with the this product.
I am not one who would usually write a review, but my disbelief at the poor customer service, pushed me to warn as many as I could.

For starters, this product is really overpriced, considering how little it actually does.
Even after doing a full PC scan and successfully detecting 2 Trojans and one bit of malware, there was no action taken to remove it. Nor was it quarantined. What then is the point?
I might as well have open the window and throw my money outside.

I then call the customer service and was informed that I would have to pay a £1 a min, to even speak to techinal support. This is crazy , nobody should have to spent ... Read More:

6.Painter IX from: Corel

Software : Painter IX
For what is now an industry standard title for digital art, this is a very good price and you get a lot of bang for your buck! To use it, you do need to own a graphics tablet - to get the most from it, you need a Wacom tablet, which is expensive - but I get by just fine with a Trust 400-V2 Wireless tablet which cost me about £40.

The goal of Painter is to simulate natural media on your computer and it does exactly what it says. Best of all though, is the simulation of oil colour, everything from dirty brushes, and the impasto texture - and every feature of the brushes is subject to your control. All that control looks a little daunting at first, but as a newcomer to Painter, I've found most of it quite intuitive to pick up and the manual contains nine tutorials ... Read More:

I purchased this from Amazon, having previously purchased the McAfee Internet Security Suite (which I would rate as 5 stars based on my own experience), mainly because of the number of adverse reviews for McAfee ISS 2007. Wish I hadn't heeded these reviews and remained loyal to the McAfee ISS, as this software is not as good, slows my machine down much more and interferes with the functioning of other key software loading on start-up, requiring me to manage the start-up procedure manually rather than relying on the auto start-up. I also needed to contact the HP helpline as it identified files as PUPs which were part of my computer's basic software [thankfully HP were very helpful in resolving this problem]. I will not be updating this next time around, but will go back to ... Read More:

I got this program mainly to enable me to publish web galleries using some FTP webspace which we all have now. I'm not a Dreamweaver or HTMLer, so I wanted to share some photos with people just to have a glance at.
The program generates the necessary HTML code ; copies it to the FTP server and voila - there is a web gallery.
The functionality of the program is basic, so there is little room for error. The basic photo editing features are here but I feel that this program is more suited to people who wish to MANAGE their photos, rather than enhance them. The program is quite specific in this regard... anyways, it does what it said it would and I'm pleased to recommend this product to the beginner or organisational user. Enjoy!!

An incredibly bad buy. Every attempt to visit a web site brings up an apology about the McAfee Proxy Service Module having to close. It relentlessly tells me that my home network is unprotected because it is not installed on my BT Vision box and the plugs that transfer the signals. McAfee anti virus products have me let me down before; I should have learnt my lesson. Unfortunately I saw a review that highly rated this offering which was the only reason I bought it.
