The last time I consulted Britannica was almost a decade and a half ago, of course that was a printed version. As such I was extremely excited and curious about what the evolution of the encyclopaedia would be in the digital format. I was tired of Wikipedia for supposedly not offering cross-referenced content that I could swear by and thought that it was a mature move to invest money on this reference software. Now that I have it installed in my computer and started to do my usual researches I confess that I am scandalised about how shallow and boring Britannica still continues to be. There is NO aerial mapping of Scotland: the air photos stop sharp at the border. While it says 2007 mapping - the Forth Bridge link road - open for some time, is not even shown as planned on the map! Otherwise, the mapping works fine - as does the 3d once you get to know it.

I think that this is great value for money as a mapping package, unfortunately for tracking and GPS work it is not intuative and you need to constantly refer to the help guide.

If you have Windows Vista then don't purchase it as it won't load. It won't even run off the disc, so although it is only cheap it will be of absolutely no use. If I could have entered no stars I would have done.

Bought this item with a view to printing out the same map of my local walking area to highlite different routes (gained from walking books with only black and white simple maps) and save them without having to buy multiple maps. If this is your intention then do not buy this product as most map scales are the same as your GB route book. The selected 1:25 000 map extracts are so small in area as to render them pointless which is a very good word for this software, you have been warned!!

Bought it for use with my GPS PDA. Installation of the full map on the PC which is them really easily tranferable to a PDA (in whatever sized chunks you want). You can set up routes on your PC and transfer these to the PDA. When you select this on the PDA it will show you the map and you can also list the waypoints. It tells the distance to next waypoint (and has a compass pointer to show you direction to waypoint). In addition you can choose to select a track. I use this to record where I have been as I am walking. You can also set up "waypoints" which records where you were when you recorded it. I find this great for when I'm taking photos - I can take photos and then record exactly where I was when I took them. Obviously I still take a ... Read More:
