i have the 2005 version and i agree with the london-heysham comment. i put in a route from the rotterdam ferry port to Kalmthout, ajourney of 62 miles, it routed via ferry to HULL then by road, 258 mile,to DOVER then a journy of 82 mile by road to Kalmthout, do the "dover ferry" guys pay back-handers to microsoft one wonders !!!!

I agree with the reviewer but felt the need to clarify some points made. I agree that the the software is old and frankly the useability could be much better (I use Google for aerial photography). However, with some playing around you can get it to do what you need. For example. 1) You can output route cards to Excel as well as HTML (or a Duke of Edinburgh specific HTML format). This isn't explained in the manual but can be selected from the "Templates" when exporting a route card. 2) You can get the route card to only show named waypoints so reducing the number of points on your route card so it fits on one page. However, you need to make sure when you name a waypoint you tick "Show" as otherwise this feature won't work ... Read More:

The system works well - until you try to use it. I've had it suddenly stop recognising its GPS receiver almost every time I need it in earnest. And when it DOES see the receiver, the program crashes 200 metres down the highway - infuriating! The GPS is found by the Device Manager, and talks to other software, but often A/R can't find it. This can be disastrous when a complex trip is meticulously planned and you find you suddenly have a map but no navigator. If all the curses I have laid on this horrible system were to take effect, Microsoft would vanish in a greasy puff of sulphur. CD

I find Memory Map a very useful mapping product, it's support for windows mobile/pocket PC devices and GPS support (on both PC and windows mobile versions) makes it particularly useful for me. There are quirks in the user interface, but once you get used to them they don't really get in the way much. The software is in general very stable and bug free. The only real problems I've had are that to load large region maps (such as this one, the south of England, onto a mobile device, you need to manually split them into smaller chunks. This proceedure is described on the Memory Map website, but one shouldn't really have to do it yourself. Also, if you are short on available memory on your mobile device, you may ... Read More:

Although I do find Autoute very helpful, I'm afraid they do seem to be behind with a few new roads round the country. Although I don't live in Northern Ireland, it is dissapointing for those that do, because the information for there isn't as detailed as mainland Britain. It's worth just using the older versions if you're not looking for the tiniest amount of detail.

Although I do find Autoute very helpful, I'm afraid they do seem to be behind with a few new roads round the country. Although I don't live in Northern Ireland, it is dissapointing for those that do, because the information for there isn't as detailed as mainland Britain. It's worth just using the older versions if you're not looking for the tiniest amount of detail.

i am currently learning to drive, and i found this cd realli useful, an excellent, Comprehensive and enjoyable way to learn.. It teaches you in various ways, so dat u can remeber, understand and reflect on what you have learnt. it manages to drill certain sequences into your head such as the (M.S.M, P.S.L Routines) and also the various cockpit checks when first entering the car. example what actions to take whilst sitting in the car with great details of changing gears.It also contains many theory aspects, and quizzes you on various road signs. which helps you to remeber.. I wud recommend this to people with patients and enjoy playin computer games lol.. as there is some points in this cd you can get irritated when having difficulties in passin certain ... Read More:
