My laptop graphics drivers were corrupted once I installed this software. I recommend that you DO NOT install this software. I have Vista and the software support site recommends installation of Vista Service Pack 1. The app only ran for about 10 seconds and then the screen went black. Once I logged in safe mode and completed a system restore my laptop is now working. I'm sending this software back.

My just 5 year old has been using this for a week and knows her colours and quite a few other French words. The games are completely age appropriate for the target users (box says 5-8 and I think that's about right). There are games like: dress the bear; play hide and seek with the mice; pick friends up round town for a party. There are two ways to use: level 1 (click around and learn the vocab) and level 2: play a game with it to earn stars for a reward. This will work best if you sit with your child for the first time through level 1 to stop them getting daunted - then they're away! French is spoken by native speakers and is nice and clear. Installed this sucessfully on Vista 64bit. Had to install the old version of Quicktime 2.1.2 - and this got stuck trying to find other versions of Quicktime, so you have to tell it to ignore. Looks a little dated now - graphics are a bit blocky when displayed full screen, but the games are quite varied.

Agree with other reviewer - very annoying that you have to wait for the quite lengthy instructions each time you start the game, or have to return to the how to screen. Game also freezes regularly, (as I have read in many reviews of other DK software products) and the only fix they can offer is to press alt+tab and return to the game each time it happens, which means that you have to sit with your child the whole time and not just let them get on with it. DK's technical support is very frustrating, as the only way of contacting them is via email and you have to wait for them to reply (or eventually just ignore you, after they have advised you that they have no solution to your problem...) Whilst my 3 year old enjoys playing these games, I was disappointed in the lack of reference to numbers. There is a puzzle sorting game where the pieces must be put in number order. The numbers are never spoken by the software, so it is purely a picture puzzle to my daughter. This does not help her to associate the written number to the words that she knows. I have not heard numbers spoken at any point in any game which seems a serious omission compared to other pre school software.

At less than a fiver you can't go wrong. Having read the books at school my 6 year old daughter was really excited about getting the game and really enjoyed it, yes it was a little difficult in places but give it time. Well worth it!

Our four year old son loves this CD. He sits still for up to an hour at a time learning without realising it. This is quite something as he can't usually sit still for two minutes without being distracted. The games/tasks are simple and simply presented. Rewards are given after each task in the form of an electronic sticker book and electronic certifiacates, which really motivate him. The only minor draw back is the programme only runs in window mode, ie it does not fill the whole screen. All in all I would definately recomend this product.

This was the first educational software program that i have purchased for my 3 year old daughter. Unfortunately there was just too much educational content and not enough of the fun-factor to hold her attention. I feel that this program is just a touch too "old" for a 3 year old, but I do think it has alot to offer the older pre-schooler.

An excellelent piece of software which has kept my children amused for hours as they learn without realising it! I know it is used reguarly in classrooms so being able to buy it for the kids to use at home is fantastic. The characters are very appealing and the whole thing runs very smoothly. I would recommend this to anyone with young children who wants them to learn as they are having fun.
