I have no problem with the content as such (tend to agree with previous reviewers), however, the software looks ancient. You only get it to work if logged in as an Administrator, or the program halts prompting a message "Error opening tune file ...". The tune file referred to cannot be found on the computer either because (it seems) this is internal to the program which is quite hopeless as you cannot do anything with the prompt message even if you're software literate (such as changing the folder/file permission as appropriate, assuming it's access permission problem which appears to be the case). My sister and I loved this series of games. We would spend a long time on it having fun and pushing our logic that bit further. We recently re-bought it (our original only worked on windows 95 I think) and spent ages re-living it all over again. Yes, perhaps recently we have not been on it that much, as we are now 18 and 19 years old and are at college and uni, but I have to recommend it to everyone. Also, if you want to buy some computer games for your kids but don't want their brains to mush, we loved 'Maths Rescue' and 'Word Rescue' - fantastic for learning how to spell and do basic maths sums. Overall, love it! :)

My son enjoyed this cd and it gave him a good head start in school. Its has fun educational games and is very addictive. There are 3 levels of difficulty and they recieve stars for achievement and a picture of an animal. They learn alphabets using sounds, phonics, maths etc...So, its worth the money!

Garfield animated exercises catch attention of kids (my sister is 12 years old) and even I and my colleagues had fun to try it. Contains exercises of single letters as for letter combinations and an error counting tool to follow your activity as for example editing a normal text document, so at next program launch you are suggested to practice one particular instead of others.

Bought this for my 8 yr old to build her confidence. Just finished real school yr 3 so the first CD Yr3 is a really good refresher. She sat there for ages with her friend working through the questions, then still was eager to continue until bedtime. The storyline & graphics were very good having to collect items going round the map to finally get the keys. The pleasure from the kids when they acheive each of the answers and stages was great to hear. Not sure they realised how much homework they did. Good for me to pick up on a lot of school work areas that she had obviously covered that I never knew she had learnt. Great !! She can't wait to get onto the next levels & CD's.

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter to help improve her English and Math skills, and I can't praise this programme enough! My daughter actually looks forward to playing the games and frequently comes up to me saying "Mummy, can I play Jump Ahead Year 2 now please?" with much enthusiasm. I thought it might be just a fad - like with all toys! But she really does enjoy it. I think its because the math games are challenging and she enjoys the excitement of the "theme" of the game, like jumping over crocodiles to get across a river. I can tell you one thing, I wish I had something like this when I was little learning maths because it would have made the subject less scary. and JUMP AHEAD they will too! This is a gorgeous CD-Rom. We used it with our daughter from aged 12 months. She just sat on our lap and thoroughly enjoyed all there was to see, sing along and do. It has a very long life to it. It was quite some time before I realised there were other things to see within each activity if you moved the mouse and click randomly about (as a toddler would naturally do. Unlike her controlled Mum). The images are very clear and the diction of all the characters and songs is clear too. My husband was able to fiddle about with installing this so that it would go full screen which was even better. I bought this software a couple of weeks ago, and this is the first chance I have had to get on the computer and rave about how good this product is - my daughter has been hogging the computer playing this game! The software is very 'playable' and the children find it very easy to navigate around the various screens. It is very supportive of their exploration, without being seen as patronising or babyish by them. The educational element is so cunningly disguised in the games and puzzles that the children are unaware how much they are learning. The games and challenges can be set at differing levels according to ability, so the difficulty can be increased as the children become more familiar with the game, and learn new skills. My ...
