If you've been used to using previous versions, i'd say stick to them. Office 07 has a very different layout to its older versions. It can take some getting used to depending on how good you are at using computers. It took me a while to find some of the features i wanted, but i suppose thats because of the new additional features which make it easy to manipulate the text and have more control. If you just want to get things done quickly with no fuss i don't think this would be for you. But i really like it!

Have had no problems at all with word 2008, no crashes no speed problems. Tried using Mac Pages but pages has limited functionality, so use word.

This is a licence for a three computer version - one set of installation files and a licence that can be registered for three computers in the same home. By Student version, your household computer users needs to include a student - a child in school (aged 5 to 18) or an 16+ person studying part or full time (or teaching) in a college/school/university. With a new version, one expects improvements and in this case there are many. The most obvious being the new menu system which takes a bit of getting used to but needs to be learnt as this will be the future. Do you have a uni undergraduate in your household. If so, get this : the mother of photo software. If you are a student why not buy it now. You can use if after you graduate in your work. Many employers these days insist that people have proper licences for software.

Have just loaded MS Office 2007 pack into my PC (XP system) and am very impressed with the new Word 2007 & Excel 2007 layouts. Unfortunately, I also tried to load the software into my wife's laptop (Vista operating system) but Vista doesn't like it - everytime she clicks on the Word 2007 icon the software starts installing itself all over again. Vista is really pretty awful - where's that nice button on Control Panel which says 'Install New Programs' - seems to have disappeared in Vista.

I got the box a day earlier than estimated and also there was a Bonus CD included ("Adobe Creative Suite 3 Video Workshop") with a lot of useful tutorials ... You will have to send proof of eligibility (you will find the details in the box) to Adobe in order to get a serial number. I got mine 10 days later although it's not supposed to take more than a week according to Adobe's notes... The software works very well so far and the price is very low compared to the non-student edition.

I mulled over buying this since switching to Mac 9 months ago after too many Windows frustrations. Compatibility has always been a bit of an issue since as we still have PC's for the children and all the systems at work are Windows based. Although Pages/Keynote can export to Word/Powerpoint formats, you need to be careful with which fonts you use and some formatting is often lost. I have now taken the plunge and bought it, not least because Microsoft are running an offer where you buy the 2004 version and they will send you 2008 when released for the cost of shipping! Office for mac has now solved nearly all my problems and although is not as quick to use as the mac equivalent it is nowhere near as slow to load/save etc. as the Windows version. ... Read More:
