Bought this for my grandchildren and they love it. The sticker Book is a big incentive and keeps them at it. The seven year old was struggling at school and working through the maths and English, with some help, gave him a lot of confidence. The younger two join in, and also do the lower level, and it becomes a joint exercise. All good stuff.

There is just so much in the new Britannica 2005 Deluxe CD you can spend hours researching and just finding out new facts. Its great for college work, the new brainstomer is an excellant addition to this new version. No student - young or old should be without one!

This is a lovely piece of educational software. The quality is good making the content accessible and fun for young people to explore. My son is a bright 10 year old who is home educated and was very reluctant to switch off the cd once he had started it.

This is a trawl of text only diagrams. All fascinating facts and excellent drawings but dead in terms of encouraging further searching and reading. The opening of the disc is great and there are some great (very short!) 'movies' of the woolly mammoths in various scrapes. Yet, once you've watched these the following questions are cold and boring, in our sons' opinions. You type in the answer. A little farty sound if you're wrong and a cheerful ting if right. Not very exciting. If you can't think of the exact wording or spell it exactly you get the farty sound! (actually, that's quite a good bit!) New searches just reveal more pages of illustrations as you expect to see them in a book. There are lots of links to other things of related interest. ... Read More:

Unfortunately the names are not saved/ stored in the programme at all, so everything accomplished by the child is lost when you end the programme.Basically it is like using it for the first time each time you start the programme. My son is now not at all interested in these as he finds the software frustrating. In short, print off all the child has achieved each time they are on, so they know where to start from next time. Not a programme I would advise buying.

This is an invaluable resource to help with Homework on all subjects for my two children aged 7 and 10. If Britannica does not have all the answers there are 166,000 weblinks on the Cd that if you click on you go straight through to the relevant website - much quicker and safer that searching the Internet. Well worth the £20!
