There are so many expensive poor quality offerings in the childrens games market, its refreshing to find a title that's as good as this one.
Our pre-school children love Bob's Castle Adventure.
The voices are familiar, the graphics are superb, navigation is very easy, and the range of activities is very generous... there must be close to 15 different games to play.
Strongly recommended for pre-school children.

This is a fantastic childrens cdrom. The visual quality is tremendous. You can tell that much thought went into the development. The only criticism I could have is that there is not much content, however, this is compensated for by the quality of the features. It has my kid occupied for hours on end - I've even passed a few hours at it too! Definately a recommended purchase.

This is very primitive software. It's something you'd expect from the early 90s - not from 2007. Firstly, even though it gets installed on the hard-drive it will not run entirely from there - you have to put the CD back in each time you want to use it. This is rather annoying because not only do you need to dig out the original CD each time you also have to trust your three year old not to bust the CD drive. This is an almost certainty given the fact that for each BBC/GSP game they will have to open the CD tray and then load and unload a new disk.

The opening video sequence is also poor. It is very low resolution (again à la 1990s) and the sound quality leaves much to be desired.

The game itself is rather average ... Read More:

My 3 year old son is a huge fan of Bob the Builder and he absolutely loves this CD. The games are of varying difficulty and he does need help with some of them but his mouse skills are improving by the day. The games are fun and not too obviously educational. The only problem I have with this CD is getting him off the computer!

I bought this one, amongst many others to get my boy used to the PC and the mouse. At 3 years now, this remains his favourite. There is a wide variety of activities as well as characters. although he has played the games on there for over 6 months, he still finds it interesting and stimulating enough to keep trying new things. An excellent buy

6.Favourites: Pingu - A Barrel of Fun! from: BBC Multimedia

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Software : Favourites: Pingu - A Barrel of Fun!
This is the first software I've come across in many years which refuses to run unless the CD is in the drive. Presumably this is some attempt at copy-protection. It means that, unlike all the other kids software on the PC, my kids can't run it by themselves. Also the CD constantly and noisily spins up during game-play, and most of the games feature long pauses whilst the drive spins up.

The kids (3 and 5) find the games reasonably entertaining, but nothing special really, considering what is available on the likes of the Cbeebies website, and internet games don't suffer from any of the CD related problems.

Colin.

My kids love this cd rom; has various park activities that can return to time after time. Especially my 4 year old, but the seven year old also enjoys the challenges. The activities are all quite different and test different skills. When complete all the activities (which it auto remembers what each sign on has completed) then you are rewarded with a firework show. Great value disk.

My son loves this! It's easy to use and he works on it independently. It has a variety of educational activities which are brilliant for young children. I am a teacher and would use it in the classroom if it were apple compatible! Fantastic!

The graphics on this are absolutely brilliant. It is really impressive, just like watching it on TV but you can interact with the characters. The games are pretty basic, it would be a good introductory cd to learn to use the mouse etc. My 3 year old loves it and I just pop it on and leave her to it. I wouldn't recommend it for any older than 4 as it would be too boring.
