I was very disappointed in the 64-bit version and I should have known that if THE major on-line only manufacturer of 64-Bit (Intel/AMD) PC's do not ship (as of Nov 2006) this OS with their 64-bit processors then there must be a reason. And there was. Make sure you have a 64-Bit version of your ethernet driver (if you are on broadband) or Modem (for dial-up) BEFORE you install this OS. Whist setting the machine up to work with standard software like MS Office and business printers was no problem, home-based hardware drivers are more difficult to come by. Whist the OS supports 32-Bit drivers, they do not work in many cases. This is why I feel most disappointed that MS did not get this one working correctly. ... Read More:

OneNotes is excellent, got it with office student edition Has notebook and tabs kind of style. Easy to capture screenshots and audio. You can password tabs, And paste anything from anywhere. Use for projects & diary ect.. Oh and its very cheap..

Been running this since it was pre-installed on my new laptop in October last year and much to my amazement, I've had ZERO problems. No crashes, no freezing, no wierd stuff. Yeah, difficult to believe, I know. Truth is, Vista has handled everything I've thrown at it without even breaking into a sweat. Windows Update keeps it all purring like a pussy cat without my even thinking about it. There's much improved security, lots of new easier to use features, and it looks great, too. If all you need is a solid OS and don't give a rats about the fancy and graphically intensive stuff in the Premium edition, get this. Wouldn't like to run it on less than a gig of RAM though. Good job, Microsoft.

I bought the OEM disc to use on my Intel Mac also. The disc worked perfectly with no problems. I simply registered the product online with none of the problems the previous poster mentioned. I think there may be a problem if you attempt a second installation using a program like Parallels of VM Fusion as you are technically trying to register the product for a second time and this causes alarm bells to ring at Microsoft. But if you simply want to install on Bootcamp, this product is highly recommended.

Paying near 70 quid for an old Windows version that in turns needs half a gigabyte of ram and excels with a one Ghz or faster CPU just to create a media centre is a bit too much for my budget. It's got a built-in DSP optimized for MPEG4 video recording, supports both PAL and NTSC, acts as a networked media player, personal video recorder, and is based on Linux so it's totally expandable. In fact, a new Youtube video browser has been released for it, and new software is being developed all the time.
