Great software. Vegas platinum is in a nice, comfortable zone between free software(windows moviemaker) and expensive software (Adobe premiere). The result is steady video editing software with a few tricks up its sleeve, including hundreds of special effects and transitions. great quality videos as well, considering the outstandingly low price. The interface is easy to use, editing is easily mastered and the "show me how" option is a great way for beginners to learn. Vegas is alos the only video editing software ive come across that supports .aac audio files. Meaning i can use all the music from my itunes in my videos. The PSP is a great device, just like the iPod. However it lacks a management tool like iTunes; that is what this appliction provides, a simple straight forward way to add files to your PSP and mange the contents of your memory sticks. The media encoding works perfectly and can convert all your Movies so you can watch them on the PSP, MP3s are seamlessly converted. You will probably want to get several large Memory sticks to store everything. Whilst there is currenly no mac version (not that this particularly bothers me), this version works perfectly well on both Windows XP and Vista as well as with both 32 and 64 bit versions of these OS's.

Provides some quite advanced tools, but crashes quite often, losing unsaved work. Annoyingly, the help file describes functions from the more expensive version which cannot be found in this cheaper version.

I had this product shipped directly from Sony USA as I needed it to work on a wedding video I recently shot. I already own Movie Studio 8 Plat edition and have upgraded so that I can work in 1920x1080 video and export directly to Blu-ray. It's an amazing piece of software and I can thoroughly recommend it for the semi-pro/competent amateur. The pro's would naturally be looking at Vegas Pro, but for less than £100 I can hardly think of a more advanced package. I am using a Sony SR12E camcorder and have output a few projects in high defintion using Vegas and it really has to be seen to be believed. High quality output really is at your fingertips. I have always used Adobe Premiere since version 6.0 several years ago, assuming that it was the best Windows-based video editing package. However, my problems first began when trying the edit the footage from my new HDV video camera - Premiere Pro (despite being advertised as being HD-friendly) could not handle the files without conversion, which is a long process. I decided to give Sony's own Vegas software a try due to compatability with my video camera's files. So, how is it to use compared to Premiere? I found this very easy to use. Certainly compared with another package I trialled. There is a lot of jargon in this type of work and as a novice there is a whole new dictionary to learn. A lot of the sounds at first seem quite basic but I'm hoping that as I pick up experience that combinations and effects will improve them. I easily added midi-track drums, bass and some effects then an audio track from my guitar. Then created an mp3. I can tell that there is still a lot to learn but I also found that there were things I wanted to do and havn't found how - like varying the volume of one track. Early days. For the price I thought there's little to lose.

What the description of this product does not say is that it is not suitable for Sony HDRSR12E camcorders and similar models,the software just does not recognise the format.I am now stuck with software i cannot use and i cannot understand why that fact is not made clear. One star for the pretty box.
