Presently on PcPro's `A-List', Adobe Elements is a cut down version of Adobe's £500+ Photoshop/Photoshop Extended CS4, and costs considerably less while still having a lot of useful photo editing capabilities. Photoshop CS4 has a steep learning curve, but Photoshop elements is far more home-user friendly. A lot of the program is geared towards image storage and management of the photos on your hard drive, helping with emailing, web output and scrapbooks of your images. The program can auto-downloads your images from the camera to folders, set up using the date, and can even process the images, say automatically removing red-eye, while it does it. This version really is disappointing and full of installation and programming errors. Version 9.0.9.4d released at the end of October does nothing to improve matters. Nero Vision has seen no real refinement for a few years now, but this version works less well than Nero 8. It does not import files I recorded correctly from DVDs that Nero 8 coped with fine. Installation takes a remarkably long time and fails if you use the custom option to omit unwanted features. Currently my computer does not list Nero as available to either use or uninstall, though roaming round the hard drive to find the program files, I have managed to get it mostly working. I run my own part time Web Design company called Urweb. I have always been a Dreamweaver Macromedia (now Adobe) fan due to the ability to build professional looking sites, with very little HTML. However I had many issues with Dreamweaver that I could never get around, so tried a few other programs, netobjects and the likes. However I could never get the results I was after. I decided to give Webplus X2 a chance and after a few hours getting to know my new companion, I must say I am blown away. Yes it does produce some long winded HTML and yes it is difficult to amend your sites in other programs, but why would you want to use anything else. Well like so many, I bought it when it was on offer... Installed and made my fist whole system back up. Lets face it, you never know if its done it right until you have to use it...fortunately it had as I reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled as hoped... thats the good the bad is since then I have not been able to create another wholesystem backup - well not one that I feel confident of... and after 3 or 4 emails to their support - each time it has taken AT LEAST 1 week to reply and then displays a complete lack of understanding of the question if you need to be sure that you have a good backup, shop elsewhere

I know that nothing will persuade die-hard Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop supporters to abandon their favorite software, but when you see what you get for £100 with Corel X3, when compared to about £1000 for the Adobe equivalent, the case is made, at least for me. I have to spend my own money when I buy software software. Having used earlier versions some years ago, I found X3 easy to use and very stable in Win XP. Newbies should expect a steep learning curve, but that is only to be expected with software of this power and capability. Perseverance pays off, and once the initial effort is made learning becomes faster and easier. I was looking for the most up to date driving test practice media i could find and this seemed to be the newest on the market. I have previously been using the driving test success 2006/2007 on my PC and was well impressed but had wanted something more upto date. As i looked at the product I saw the system requirements were windows 2000, vista and XP so immediately thought these were for use on the PC.... Be warned these discs are NOT for use on your PC they are for use on DVD player or console!!! Very slow compared the the Cd rom. This would be great for anyone who doesn't own a PC but not for anyone who has experienced the CD rom version.

My sister and I loved this series of games. We would spend a long time on it having fun and pushing our logic that bit further. We recently re-bought it (our original only worked on windows 95 I think) and spent ages re-living it all over again. Yes, perhaps recently we have not been on it that much, as we are now 18 and 19 years old and are at college and uni, but I have to recommend it to everyone. Also, if you want to buy some computer games for your kids but don't want their brains to mush, we loved 'Maths Rescue' and 'Word Rescue' - fantastic for learning how to spell and do basic maths sums. Overall, love it! :)

Having taken a great deal of camcorder footage on a recent touring holiday in Canada, I turned to my long owned(but little used)Pinnacle Studio 9 editing package. After some initial difficulty,I eventually captured the project into the software. That's when the problems started! It took many,many attempts to edit the first hour of video because of repeated hangups/crashes, which meant computer restarts each time. However,after sheer dogged determination, and taking each editing process very slowly, I achieved the desired edit and moved on to the movie capture stage to start the process of transfer to DVD. Great software. Vegas platinum is in a nice, comfortable zone between free software(windows moviemaker) and expensive software (Adobe premiere). The result is steady video editing software with a few tricks up its sleeve, including hundreds of special effects and transitions. great quality videos as well, considering the outstandingly low price. The interface is easy to use, editing is easily mastered and the "show me how" option is a great way for beginners to learn. Vegas is alos the only video editing software ive come across that supports .aac audio files. Meaning i can use all the music from my itunes in my videos.
