121.PhotoSuite 5.0 Platinum Edition from: Roxio
February 27, 2003
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

>>More Details
Software : PhotoSuite 5.0 Platinum Edition
Photosuite (I have PS5)does not tell the purchaser how to delete pictures stored in its memory. If you file pics into your PC, thru PhotoSuite, and later wish to delete a few, you are not told how to do so. If such pics are personally damning in any way, this is highly irritating. Their solution? Ask for tech help for only $35.00 US. THAT, my friends, is an immoral rip-off.

Sadly I found this product to be a waste of money. Apart from being twice the price of other applications of its sort it suffers from having one of the most frustrating and illogical flaws I have ever come across - it will not allow you to name your master files when imported from a camera.

This is the same flaw that exists with iPhoto too. Both programmes will let you call your files whatever you want - and in Aperture there are, as you'd expect, more way of doing it than in iPhoto. However, as soon as you drag or copy/paste a photo file OUT of the programme you will see that it has kept its original camera assigned numeric filename. Neither Aperture (or iPhoto for that matter) will allow you to change it. This infuriating quirk ... Read More:

I bought this thinking it was a cheap alternative to Adobe, but to be honest, its still pretty expensive compared to some other stuff on the market (which had I known about I might have chosen over this!) - but it does what it says ok! Check you need all the utlilities it provide before shelling out as you can probably find something cheaper to do the majority!

I bought this as I was manually lining up CD templates in Word and printing out the labels, so I thought a custom build bit of software would make things much simpler. How wrong I was.

I am definitely not a computer novice, but getting this software to print out labels that actually line up with the label paper is almost impossible. I bought standard sized label stationery, 2 labels per page, but this size was not in the pre-defined set of labels. Ok, so I thought I'd create my custom one - impossible. Nothing you can do with any setting actually does anything to change the alignment.

Avoid this product at all costs. A total waste of money.

I was after business photos to create professional marketing material and instead received a product with no professional business photos on it at all. Instead what you get is a batch of photos that are of Africa, Animals, California, Transport (mainly American biased), Flowers, Landscapes, Path of Christ, Paris, the sand and the sea, winter scenes and the wilderness. Not a broad selection at all and very disappointing. The only business images are all clip art with the majority being like cartoons. It is so 1980's tin its style and not with it at all. If you want 800,000 images that a school child would find useful for their art project or if you wish to create a silly poster then this CD is for you but it isn't for anything more serious than that ... CS3 is blazingly fast compared with CS2 even on a relatively modest Intel Mac. So far it is rock solid, with none of the problems users are reporting on Windows - Adobe seems to have worked hard on getting it right for the Mac customer base. New features are fairly modest as far as straight forward photography is concerned, but even so it is a worthwhile upgrade.
