I bought this cd-rom basically due to laziness! I was tired of having to constantly look up words in the dictionary which is too time-consuming! This program lets you type in a word (in either language) and it brings up the direct translation along with the genitive endings and sex of the word - as found in the normal dictionary. It also offers the word in sentences; putting it into context and offers various explanations of the word. A must have for linguists everywhere!!

This is one of my favourite games. The graphics are good and the gameplay is the best ever. It brings you into the outstanding movie as you've never seen before. I think that the 2 player mode is brilliant because you can work together as Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli. The only troulbe is that you can't play as anyone else or any level. But that doesn't matter because it is really fun. Single player mode is the challenge though. The first levels are easy. but as you carry on it gets very, very, hard. It will take me a long time to finish the game, but I am enjoying it. In single player mode, you can be Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli, Sam (or Frodo at the last level), Gandalf and you can unlock secret characters as well.
There aren't many levels ... Read More:

One thing to watch with this product is that unlike the actual test you can click the mouse as many times as possible and it has no effect on the end score. Unlike in the test where if you click the mouse too much it renders the clip with a zero score. Not the best training aid as I found out by failing by 1 point for a PCV license

I came across the following statement in the text: "Temperature is measured using a thermometer. Temperature can be measured in either Celsius or Fahrenheit." If this supposed to be educating the scientists of the future, why is confusing them with the Fahrenheit scale? Even American scientists don't use that any more.

I bought this software for my daughter who is very computer literate for her age. She happily worked her way through all of the Jump Ahead Year 1 series from Focus Multimedia Ltd and thoroughly enjoyed them. More importantly, she clearly learned a lot too.

Perhaps it was because I was expecting the same level of engagement and explanation from Play and Learn: Science Experiments that I felt a little disappointed. The experiments simply aren't that engaging. Sure, they look good, but they don't actually explain very much.

Worse, they are often fiddly where one small mistake forces the child to start again from scratch, e.g. the very small drop area when positioning the cars on the first experiment: If you miss, the car falls ... Read More:

It's not a bad course. It contains some good vocabulary but their idea of making the process of learning Norwegian funny and entertaining failed. The practice exercises are primitive and boring. In addition, some material is superflous and unnecessary. As for the good sides, it's is user-friendly and different topics are well-organized.

An already intermediate typist, i wanted something that would allow me to practice my skills, at a chosen level and to go over my 'weak keys' in particular. Although i can see this is good for total beginners, there is no option to skip lessons, or to go back to a particular letter. The games are hard to get at, and there is no 'general practice area' (eg story typing options on other packages'. I was forced, therefore, to start from the very begninning, and laboriously work through each letter, until i got up to the stage i wanted. but then, once i had done the level test, i could not go back to that level again. highly impractical, and i wish i hadn't bought it.

Agree with other reviewer - very annoying that you have to wait for the quite lengthy instructions each time you start the game, or have to return to the how to screen.
Game also freezes regularly, (as I have read in many reviews of other DK software products) and the only fix they can offer is to press alt+tab and return to the game each time it happens, which means that you have to sit with your child the whole time and not just let them get on with it.
DK's technical support is very frustrating, as the only way of contacting them is via email and you have to wait for them to reply (or eventually just ignore you, after they have advised you that they have no solution to your problem...)
It is a real shame, as the actual games and activities ... Read More:
