Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 is a solid product, built on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, but with the addition of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. It is very easy to install, although allow upto 2 hours to complete this task. The wizards provided through the Manage Server tool are well thought out and simple to use. Within no time you will have an internet gateway installed, with intranet, remote access, web based email, etc. Two unique features include the POP3 exchnage addon (for downloading email from an ISP and distributing it to users) and the shared fax (allowing print to fax for all users). This is a polished product, being simple to administer, but with all the power of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 underneath.

I am an IT Manager and have worked with OS's right from DOS. Windows 2000is the best so far, better than XP because it doesn't try to be tooclever, yet clever enough to keep your Apps going without any problems andstill well supported. No doubt MS will stop support for this in a coupleof years and force people to move onto annoying OS's like XP !

In addition to the horror stories I've heard and read about Vista, I'd also read that the Home Basic edition is basically like XP and therefore not worth getting. Though Vista may have been dis-functional in 2007, the 2008 edition of Home Basic with Service Pack 1 is anything but XP! Installation was painless and despite my motherboard manufacturer not offering Vista compatible drivers, Windows Update made easy work of finding current VGA, Network & Audio drivers to run my Motherboard under XP. I've had one program that will not function correctly but it's a specialist piece of Broadcast Software for which a Vista version is available so all in all, no major problems, catastrophe's etc etc. I think the Vista horror stories mainly relate ...
