I use Serif (PagePlus 11) desktop publishing at home and don't profess to be a computer expert. I really like this product, having recently upgraded from Pageplus 5. I use it for my hobby of cardmaking and also for ad hoc projects, such as drawing up a menu or making a poster. I find Serif really easy to use and I particularly like the ease with which items on a page can be aligned and squared. I am sure Serif probably has many more features than the ones I use but as a card maker I have found the following really simple to use and invaluable: Importing pictures and clipart. I purchased this for my Granddaughter aged 6, for the price, its a nice little basic program, easy to use, you can send cards via Email, add music and export to Web, states on the CD cover that the item runs on Windows Vista, XP, 2000, 98. I am running Vista and the program loads and runs with no problems.

Corel Draw is a powerful grahics and photo editing suite. As I am not a graphic designer or a computer genius (though I'm certainly not a beginner either), I had a few second thoughts before getting something like this. The box it came in was massive, and is filled with some very big and intimidating manuals. On installing the software I realised that it also comes with instruction videos. Not having used any version on Corel Draw for many many years I did what I thought would be sensible; start the program and assume that I would be able to do everything. Needless to say, I couldn't! I was really happy with this software at first, having upgraded from Elements 2, and the results were really great. Then the glitches started to show. I worked on some images for ages, only to find that I couldn't save them or even close the program down. Convinced it was related to my old computer I bought a new one and guess what, all the glitches were still there. I'm going to have a go with Elements 5 before I abandon Adobe altogether. Stay tuned for my experiences with that.

If you are looking for a product that you can put your photos to different pieces of music and use a range of effects with your photos then I would recommend photos on cd and dvd 6 (non deluxe version). I found photos on cd and dvd pretty easy to use, but i also found that when you upload your magix product you are given 4 products to deal with they are a goya burner, a photo manager, a music manager and a place where you create your photos on to cd or dvd. To get your photos to the place where you can get them on to cd or dvd you have to open them in the photo manager and it is the same for music, by opening them in this format allows you to get to them on the place where you can burn your vcd's or dvd's.
