Contrary to the Amazon Product Overview, this software does not work with Windows Me - at least the user handbook states this is the case. The handbook tells you, for Windows Me, to use the second, Ghost 2003, disk enclosed in the pack. I wished to backup by HD sporting Me. The 2003 disk worked well enough for this, but I paid for Ghost V9. The more detailed Amozon info on this product appears to give the correct info. Lex Thomas

As an anti-spam device I suppose it was effective, but only because it prevented Outlook Express from downloading any email. It also introduced instabilities in Internet Explorer and made the computer liable to crash. The automated help on the Symantec website was no use at all. After paying Symantec good money to damage my computer you can imagine I wasn't prepared to pay for technical assistance for them to try and fix it. From reading other comments on the internet I seems that the program does work for some people, but there are also many who share my bad experience. I'm afraid I've lost interest in trying to make it work after 2 weeks. My previous faith in Symantec products has gone. Only one good thing about this product, it did ... Read More:

Not much to compare this against - I suppose there's Steganos and TrueCrypt but this seems fine to me. Create a vault and shove some folders and files in and password protected encryption is the name of the game. A bit minimalistic perhaps but so what, does what it says on the tin. Had it a year now and seems to be fine.

As a spy ware removing tool it is quite good, i bought it because i had an annoying pop up adware installed on my pc and the free downloaded spyware programs (spybot, ad-aware) couldn't touch it, in that sense I am happy, but it also comes with a raft of shields and blockers to be run at startup and proactively prevent spyware installing itself, this is less usefull, for starters you will notice a slow down when you surf the net as all the shields and blockers whirr into life as you download a page, internet multiplayer games also become unplayable lagging every minute untill you turn off spy sweeper, another more annoying feature is that spysweeper seems to run some web shields, blockers etc only on IE having half a dozen options that exclusively ... Whenever you want to upgrade your anti-virus you`r allways plagued by the dread of long hours downloading and tricky instructions, terms and policys. I was, but the ease of it all kind of made up for the downloading time - an hour and a bit. I had had bad experiences vith anti-virus upgrades in the past, but this one was different. It really is effective in blocking unwantes softwear in addition to the fact that it has lots of extra features that are dead easy to toggle on and off. It had some plain silly features like parental site-blocking, but I bet you you won`t be dissapointed.
