I ordered this system suite with eager anticipation, having had problems with Norton. Unfortunately it has been an unmitigated disaster. I had to disable the firewall because it caused the modem to crash. After I had run the rest of the utilities the computer took ages to execute any command - although it was supposed to speed it up! I had no option but to uninstall the lot and send it back. Perhaps I'm unfortunate. I have Windows ME upgraded from Windows 98 and access the internet via broadband. Buyer beware!

i now im writing on version 8 but thought i would give my opinion. i downloaded onto pc running windows then bough a pc running vista. had problens then installing it back onto my xp machine, a slight fault with my machine. however the point i think i should make is the outstanding customer service i got from bullgaurd in sorting this problem. im no IT tech, but know a little, know alot more now after my dealings with bullguard. in the days of complaining i think i should come and say that the software runs very good, very easy to download , very easy to use, doesnt slow your pc down, customer services fantastic. so if your undecided about which suite to choose, then feel confident about this one. top marks from me

This works well but...if you have any kind of hardware/software problem that requires a reinstall more than a couple of times or you restore a Ghost image, every time you switch on you are required to 'activate the product' until Symantec disables it - Symantec customer care is the worst I have ever encountered. More like customer don't care! If you manage top get through to somebody who can speak English all you get is a standard 'it's company policy that the product can only be installed three times and only on one PC and you will have to purchase a new copy' even though you have paid them for a subscription!, they treat you as a potential software pirate (a criminal) even though it's Symantec sofware that has caused the problem in the first place! I have used many different antivirus programs in the last 10 years or so and Avira has by far impressed me the most. It is a lot cheaper than many of it's competitors, it is constantly coming out top 3 in antivirus tests (see AV-Comparatives.org), it is very light on system resources, has not slowed down any computers I have tried it on and the interface is simple and easy to use. The guy below who said the support was appauling obviously did not find their support forum. I too was worried about the support, seeing that Avira is German. However, once I found their online support forum my mind was put to rest. They offer excellent free support and many of the members are very knowledgeable security experts. I really don't know where to start in warning you off of any Norton product, let alone this one. I've had problems with previous Norton Antivirus products, but was swayed into purchasing this as it was available as a special offer when I purchased my new computer. I wish I hadn't. Every single fault that has occured with my new computer has been due to Norton Antivirus, from the minor - Norton Firewall prevents a multitude of programs, such as iTunes and Mozilla Firefox, from working - to the major - a 80% uninstallation of all it's files on a normal start-up (and if that was not a fault of the program, which I believe it was, then it must have been due to a virus. It simply doesn't work on a mac (new version / Intel based). Constant error messages saying it couldn't load & couldn't update the virus database. I just gave up. A complete waste of time & money.
