I wasted a week of my life and then I returned it. Pinnacle support answered my emails efficiently but none of their suggestions worked. The picture rolled and shuddered in the preview window and was the same in the captured MPEG. Changing cables, capturing direct from camera or VHS, same result. Doesn't work. Amazon's return policy works a treat.

The box clearly states "easily convert your DVDs..." but it does not do it. As soon as you load the software it tells you that it will not convert any copy protected DVD content, and that means virtually everything you would ever want to watch. Could not get any function to work from any format. Even the uninstall program does not work properly.

Bought this as an upgrade from Dance eJay5 which I've been using for some time. The program is much easier to use than Dance 5 as the mixer and arranger functionality in 5 has now been brought into the same interface. The range of pre-defined synths and effects is amazing and does almost everything you want straight out of the box. Enable the advanced features and the effects list becomes almost infinite as you have total control over all the parameters of each effect! The drum sequencer is a doddle to use and can quickly produce quality sounding percussion sequences. The bass and lead synths are almost as easy, except that you can only see one keyboard octave at a time due to the height of the display. It's a pity they didn't make the ... Read More:

I bought this version for the pre-amp as I thought my old setup would not be as good. It doesn't work. You can't lower the volume in the mixer (Vista) window. If you have Vista and Conexant sound card -beware. Magix don't even read your e-mails properly. It works using headphone out socket of amplifier but puts a distorted channel in the background.

I checked out a few screenwriting programs over a period of time and the one I've felt most comfortable using is Movie Magic 6, which just works elegantly and smoothly. A PDF instruction manual plus a built-in tutorial run you through the basics. I found them incredibly useful to grow more confident using the program. The NaviDoc is one of the program's greatest features, allowing you to make outlines and notes on your script. You can prep acts, scenes, sequences, beats etc by describing what you want to write. These appear colour-coded on your page, but don't appear when you export as Word or PDF files. Unlike Final Cut Pro, Logic Express is very counter-intuitive. Garageband is MUCH easier to use, recognising inputs from mics etc. straight out of the box. With Logic, you need HEAPS of patience! Nothing works the same way twice. You have to continually restart it to make even the smallest preference changes. And try hooking up a recommended USB mic (e.g. the Samson C01U) and you'll have no hair left! (Even Samson's online instructions are wrong!) Logic recognises certain inputs one minute and forgets them the next time you start up. Basically, a very temperamental program which looks easy on the outside, but has many hidden and unexplained quirks. Even following Apple's own training manuals leads you up dead ends. You check ...
