We have never enjoyed mowing the lawn. Usually it gets left and left and then becomes so long that it is a nightmare (I know, we create the problem by leaving it). So today it was an option of strimming it first and then cutting it with our existing lawnmower which is 10 years old and can't cope with long grass, or taking the plunge and buying this one that I have been looking at for the past few weeks. So I bought it, put it together without difficulty in about 10 minutes, and off I went. Simply fabulous. Our grass was in places at least 20cm long and it just sailed through - in fact Bosch claim it will cope with 30cm grass. amazon supplied the rotak with free delivery and a large saving.Delivery was quick with no problems The box looked big and the parts looked complicated but I had a friend who put it together for me The general comment that it was not paticularly easy, paticulary the grass box.I have used it today and found it brilliant paticularly after my qualcast cylinder model which was awful.The edging system is great and it leaves good lines.The grass box is adequate and easy to empty,although the cable is slightly short for my usage.The bigger Rotak 40 has a longer cable and might be worth considering if one does not want to bother with extension cables, but at 30 pounds extra is probably not worth the extra.The cable tidy for the handles are worth the extra three pounds ... I bought mine a few days ago. I had been looking for some time to get one so that I can shred all my garden waste, especially branches. So far so good. Easy to assemble and to use. It can get jammed a little sometimes, but if you stick to putting no less than 4cm wide bits, you should be fine. It's not as loud as I expected it to be, but still be considerate with your neighbours when using it. And try and be green! turn it off while you're not shredding. Be careful not to put any cardboard as I tried to shred some and it got stuck inside, I had to open the whole thing up to take it out.

Yes - easily putogether but a very disappointing design. As the grass cutting box fills up the balance of this lightweight machine tips to the rear and so lifts up the cutting blade. You have to keep the machine down to acheive a decnt cut especially on slopes. The handle that you need to press to ensure power connection can trap your palm in a very irritating nippy way and after only 3 months ownership the starting mechanism is not 100% reliable.

Decent enough trimmer with a great long cable ( I used it to cut a whole Lawn !) - but use it for more than ten minutes and your hands and fingers start to hurt becuase the vibration is so strong

Bought this from a local DIY store and has been a real timesaver this year. I used to use shears to trim the hedges and shrubbery to the front and back of the house - all that action on my 13m length made my arms ache. Not any more thanks to Bosch. It's light enough to hold one handed - it's not recommended to stretch yourself too much though. Wielding this tool around the garden is a pleasure. Sure it vibrates a little but you get used to that, especially when it cuts through thick stems with relative ease - have to agree with other comments on this. My only issue is a little on the girth of the handle - my wife successfully handles my tool but it took two hands and a very firm grip to fully control the beast, even then every now and again she was surprised by the power ... i love this mower. it's light, manoeuvrable and cuts very well. the only problem is the short battery life; it simply doesn't last as long as it promises, and certainly not at the lowest cutting level. if your lawn is larger than average, it's worth thinking about the larger rotak 43, as i wish i'd done. still, this is a great, well-built and reliable mower, streets ahead of any hover or electric mower.

I've found these trimmers very easy to use. They're light to handle and come with a good length of cable. The blades are sharp and cut through quite thick stems. A good purchase.
