My 2 year old loves this but gets very frustrated by the engine which isn't powerful enough to get over the bridge, even when not pulling anything. On the level, it strugles to get along with trucks in tow. This is with brand new batteries. Are all Brio locos this underpowered?

I have had three of these trains. The first time the kids played with it a bit over five months and then it stopped. Replaced all batteries. Took ages to get remember to get another. That died within two weeks - replaced all batteries to no avail (and I know there are two on the front of the train). Was given a replacement from the shop and that has gone in under a week and the kids have played with it twice. This time I'm sending it back to Brio (who are very helpful). A friend has one and that has lasted 6 months on the same batteries. Unlucky? Jinxed? When it works it's great but keep the receipt!

We bought a few of these trains for our three years old as he is a Thomas fan and completely obsessed. I thought I was investing in a quality toy that would give him pleasure for some time. Whilst one year on, he still loves playing with Henry, Gordon and Thomas, I'm very disappointed by the quality. All the trains have become very chipped. The paint peels off incredibly easily. They also do not ride round the track very smoothly and when he connects them all together to make a long train they quickly derail. He's recently played with his freinds Brio set which seems to be much better quality.

We must have owned this product for about 4 years now and the voice recording part is as good as ever. My children find it hilarious fun recording messages, songs and other sounds for the station announcement. It is very simple to do so even 3 year olds can master it. You can record again and again. With two boys who have hundreds of Thomas related items (my youngest son is even called Thomas because of his older brothers Thomas obsession) I would rate this as our second best purchase ever. There are four easily operated buttons on the top of the station. The far right button switches on and off two station lights.
