My son enjoyed patiently building this model over 4 days at Christmas but found that every time he wanted to play with the model it fell apart as its base is not strong enough to support the model and the engines stick out below the base so they fall off every time it is put down. Finally after months of frustration we contacted Lego who supplied some extra bricks to try and stabilise the base (a known problem obviously) but that didn't work so we returned it. A great model for adults but simply not suitable for playing with - don't waste the money for kids.

Based on the previous releases of Anakin Skywalker's Starfighter and the two from the Ultimate Space Battle set, the blue Jedi Starfighter has the same design with a few improvements built in. The cockpit assembly is sturdier than the previous issues and the hull has special adaptors to allow it to connect to the hyperdrive ring. I bought this for my son's 4th bithday which was just before xmas. He loves it!! My son and daughter never really play together but when he gets Scooby out, they play together...and nicely!! It is hard work for him, especially the legs, but in my opinion its's fab for boys, to get rid of that energy!

i tend to fully agree with all the reviews so far about how easily it falls apart, but my son who was only one and a half at the time, soon learnt how to reconnect the carriages himself, and enjoyed doing so. this toy has been covered in squished banana at breakfast time, immersed in countless bubble baths, rolled up and down the slide in the garden - and even found itself thrown in the fish pond once - but still it is intact and very much loved by my little boy. yes hasbro could have tried harder to be a little more imaginable with the design - or at least reduced the rrp to a more value-for-money amount, but in our house, this toy is definately a hit and i for one am glad i bought it.
