This is a really nice, solid Lego set. The ambulance is six blocks wide, unlike the old four block sets, and unlike the monstrosities the company unleashed in the late 90s has a good, satisfying build involved. There's a couple of tiny pieces that will disappear quite quickly and the set relies on stickers for some pieces - including the blinds for the windows, which annoyingly has to go across two bricks - so it loses a star on that. Its size and weight means that it can zoom across the floor with a good push, and roof panels are easily removed so that small hands can reach inside.

DON'T BUY IT FROM AMAZON! It's cheaper at a certain supermarket's online store (under £10 = free P&P) - every little helps. The rest of Amazon's Lego seems competitive from what I have observed. But do buy it, especially if the youngster you are buying it for is not your own. Whoever's child you buy it for will instantly thank and respect you, for your insider knowledge ;-).

We were very disapointed with this item - the bell ring is VERY quiet and the magnetic ringer only works with brio trucks that have large metal hubs on the wheels. If, like us, you have a hybrid set of Tesco/Thomas/Brio etc. you may find some problems with getting the bell to ring at all. It's a good idea but just doesn't work well in practice. we recommend a level crossing or collapsing bridge instead.

Lego continue their 30th anniversary releases with this fantastic Jedi Starfighter with detachable hyperdrive ring. Based on the previous releases of Anakin Skywalker's Starfighter and the two from the Ultimate Space Battle set, the blue Jedi Starfighter has the same design with a few improvements built in. The cockpit assembly is sturdier than the previous issues and the hull has special adaptors to allow it to connect to the hyperdrive ring. Because of this, other Jedi Starfighters cannot dock with the ring which is a shame. The ring itself measures a full 28cm across and has six engines and two missiles which can be launched with a flick of the finger. The ring itself is a little fiddly to assemble, relying on small Technic parts ... Read More:
