We bought one of these classic toys for our 7 year old. It was great for a couple of weeks until the vertical movement jammed. We sent off for a new one from the suppliers but it never arrived. Took three follow up phone calls and an extremely irate fax to get any response from the suppliers who finally supplied a new one nine months after the first one broke! The quality of new models is not as good as the ones I remember when I was a kid. The plastic is not as strong and is more brittle. It can be cracked if dropped. The mechanism is not as good either. I bought this game for my son when he was about two and he has been playing with it now for five months... and you know what??? He loves it... It's not that difficult and yet it's so exciting... The adventures are great fun and very educational... My son loved it so much that he kept playing over and over again!!! I thought Winnie the Pooh was very good, but this one has got to be better... Try it...

When I first got this, I was initially disappointed at the size. The picture doesn't really give you an idea, and I suppose I was thinking the train itself would be chunky and big. In fact, it's a fair size, but quite dinky. The loop, when setup, is about 12" across and the train is about 3" long. This is quite entertaining for the kids. Mine got it when she was 9 months old, and she still plays with it, even if it's only for a few minutes at a time. You can tell from my pen-name why I got this! We got it when our wee boy was 5 months and it's got so much on it - crinkly flowers, teething ring with a ladybird and some other creatures on it, crinkly feet & ears with different patterns and textures....but right now his favourite bit is the hook which he likes to chew on!!! I'd recommend this because it lasts due to the different bits of interest - and it's cute too.

my boy loves it. simply the best idea to offer a progressive difficulty: a puzzle with 4 pieces, one with 6, one with 9 etc. Fab!

He uses it in it's traditional hammer-epg way but also like to stack the pegs in a tower on the edge and also uses the whole thing for a seat! I was a bit sceptical when he opened the box but the traditional toys certainly seem to be the favourite in this house!
