Now, I wouldn't class myself as a serious collector, but i,ve wanted this lightsaber since i was 4 years old. I have to admit I bought this lightsaber on a whim, and as soon as i pressed confirm and buy I thought "oh S**t, what have I done!" Well I need not have worried. When I recieved it in the post it was like being a little kid again, it was wonderful. That said, this ain't a toy, so you have to treat it with respect or else it'll break. a little bit of control when playing with it, don't crash and bash it around too much! The sound effects are superb, from the moment you ignite the blade to the moment it retracts its an experience not to be missed. Is it a toy? Bought this for my wife as she never hears her phone when it's buried in her handbag. Performance is patchy, sometime reacting, sometimes not. It also reacts to other phones nearby - not much good in an open plan office for example. Stayed on her handbag for a few weeks and then sat on the kitchen worktop, unused, ever since. I wouldn't bother!

This is fun and cheap enough to risk with younger (but not infant) children. Although most of this range of robot type toys have some level of programmability, the most fun is usually to be had letting them wander around in "auto" mode. In all cases, a clear uncluttered surface is very preferable. As is a non slippy one. Some exceptionally smooth tiles, for example, can confuse this sort of toy. This was fun and the kids took longer than five minutes to get bored. However, if you have the time and money I would prefer Roboquad (please see my review thereof) over Robopet.

The version that I bought was just the DVD game. With the blurb on the box saying that there are over three hundred games to play, it was really disappointing to play the game twice and have 9 out of 16 rounds that were identical second time around. Feeling a little annoyed by this, we didn't bother playing it for a while. However, when we decided that maybe it was just a one off glitch, we had not only 9 rounds that were identical to rounds we had had before, but this time 11.The DVD is back in its box, where it will remain untouched.
