This is a great book showing the best Hotels and Inns in the U.K. Since purchasing it I have used it several times, never to be dissapointed. Its definitely worth a buy.

We have enjoyed using Alastair Sawdays guides to find really interesting places to stay in our travels in France and Italy. So when his Special Places to Stay - Greece - was published in February I was quick to buy a copy. We have just returned from an Easter trip which included travel on mainland Greece and also to Corfu and Lefkas and am pleased to report that Alastair Sawday's new guide is an essential companion for travels in Greece. We successfully used the book to find lovely overnight accommodation on our travels. First there was the delightful Ganimede Hotel (entry number 177) in the pretty coastal village of Galaxidi. If you attend weddings/ parties/ Christenings/ etc on a fairly frequent basis, or even holiday in the British Isles you often find yourself looking for somewhere decent to stay in a town/ region you've never visited previously. For these occasions, the Sawday's guides are indispensable. The benefits of these guides over any other is that they offer real quality control. I now rarely stay anywhere that they haven't recommended, and have discovered many of my very favourite places courtesy of their guides and homepage. The new book has an improved layout, and has updated the selection but retains the insistence on high standards in choosing their special places.

Alastair Sawday established his reputation with his discerning guides to France and the UK. He has now extended his extraordinary eye for special, individual and perhaps eclectic accommodation to Morocco. Having tested out his recommendations he has got it spot on once again! This book can be relied upon to reveal those gems not found in travel agents' brochures.

It can be hard to review an accommodation guide unless you've tried all the recommended suggestions but with a "brand" like Sawdays you get to know what matters to them and happily that's what matters to me too. As usual this guide provides a range of accommodations to suit most budgets. Accommodation is an important part of any trip and if it's wrong then your holiday can be spoiled. I always read as much information as I can before deciding where to stay so devour guides but I find Sawdays information to be reliable and honest and I haven't been let down yet, although I have yet to sample the accommodation chosen from this book. This guide is all about 'special places' run by 'special people'. They offer a personal welcome in cosy (often luxurious) homes full of character and vitality. These establishments don't conform to tourist board norms, because they have the fingerprints of their owners on them. You will be treated like human beings rather than commodities. A recent significant birthday and gifts of book vouchers allowed me to indulge my Sawday's addiction and add this one to my collection. Now all I need is the time to go and visit more of these places. The rise in popularity in the National Gardens Scheme and village open gardens days seems to indicate that looking at other people's gardens is fast becoming a national pastime and if, like me, it's one you enjoy, then this book is for you. As with all the Sawday's guides the production is superb, well set-out, good (accurate) descriptions (I think these are written by the Sawday's inspectors rather than the places themselves) and beautiful photography. This book has proved to be a god send when i have needed to find a good bed and breakfast when i have been travelling round the country with my work, which is often. All the places i have stayed have been top notch and now it is the first place i always go to in order to find a reliably good place to stay. The places are described extremely well and the book itself has delightful photos of the places which also makes it a pleasure to read. The book will tell you everything you need to know about the property; the hosts, how many rooms are there, whether they allow pets/children etc and if they are "green/organic".
