This is an excellent, clear, easy to use format that covers the basics. Each day is a double page spread so you can really focus on the objectives and avoid your mind wandering away from the task. However, it does say 15 minutes a day is all it takes: if you're like me and feel you should really learn something before you move on, it will take you a lot longer than 15 minutes a day, especially as most of the vocab exercises say memorise! However i do recommend it to someone looking for a well-structured, useful course.

Fantastic travel companion to a great city. Go in Winter and enjoy all the chocolate drinks- not forgetting the great Lavazza coffee. Everything is clearly set out with maps and travel tips. The cinema museum is wonderful-I starred in The Matrix! All sorts of surprises there to see and be involved in. Also the Egyptian Museum is a must. I recommend this book-buy it and book your trip soon-you will not regret it!

To me these travel guides are the best you can get. It gets straight to the point, tells you enough history and the guide has a brillant, easy to use layout. I have a number of these for various cities and haven't been disappointed yet.

To me these travel guides are the best you can get. It gets straight to the point, tells you enough history and the guide has a brillant, easy to use layout. I have a number of these for various cities and haven't been disappointed yet.

We went to Hong Kong on a two day stop over to New Zealand and this is the only book to buy if you want to make sure that you cover the basic "to do" things in that country. If you are staying for more than two days then I would definitely recommend buying one of the larger books (Lonely Planet, Footprint) to supplement. I have since used the top 10 books in other cities and they are consistently excellent.

As the most beautiful city I have ever visited (indeed, perhaps the most beautiful city in the world), many guidebooks do not do St. Petersburg justice. Instead they choose to focus on a country in economic and political turmoil and a city with decaying buildings from a former era. Whether you believe these judgements or not (personally, I think the buildings in central St. Petersburg are in excellent condition), they do not exactly fill you with excitement about seeing the city's wonders (of which there are many) and make you feel like it was worth shelling out all that money to come on holiday here.
