found it much more useful then the time out NYC guidebook. Went to a couple of suggested bars which were fun. the pull out map is particularly useful. However, NYC is a city you want to get lost in so don't get the guidebook out too often!

Lots of ideas on how to take trains and get to places. Have started to use it for travels, and am now taking much more civilised trips..... with the added bonus that you have no airport hassles, travel greener, take as much whisky and toothpaste as you like, and see the countryside! Read it and be inspired. It can work out just as cheap as air travel!

This is a brilliant boxed set, i managed to get this for under £45 which is incredible given the books individually are priced at £13 each !! The attention to detail in these books are second to none - buy it now before the price goes back up !!

A book of out of the way, out of the ordinary camping is a terrific idea, which is why I bought the book. Many of the sites featured look amazing, and they have all been personally 'road-tested' by the CC crew. So far so very good. However there is a (quite a big in my view) downside in that although there is on the surface a large choice of sites, in reality this amounts to an average of less than four sites in each of the 23 counties/regions represented. So if you want to use this to plan a trip, rather than take it with you, then its really good and will get you to some really interesting off-the-beaten-track places (and I do intend to try some of them out), but much less use as something you carry around in your panniers or glove ... Whilst travelling through Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paragruay and Brazil, I quickly realised that this book was not going to be much help 'in the field'. It is in urgent need of up dating; many of the hostels and hotels mentioned have either closed, renamed or vanished off the face of the earth. I used this guide to plan my trip, but upon arrival it did little more than fill up space in my rucksack. The maps are quite useful...to a point. Most of the restaurants, hostels etc are not in the right place on the map (which i found out to my cost when lugging my rucksack around Ascunsion). However, the layout is accurate and helps to orientate yourself around cities. The information regarding major tourist attractions is useful also. ... Read More:

This book was essential to me having a fantastic week in Paris. Its Metro map served me particularly well and much easier to use than standing ina crowdd of 50 other tourists trying to decipher maps on the underground map on a wall. Recommendations on ways to entertain children (we had a 4yr old with us)were pretty much spot on and all in all i would recommend the guide as an invaluable companion.

I visited New York for the first time last Nov and I was given a mini rough guide to New York by a friend. I would have been lost without it. It was a bible in my bag. I am due to visit the big apple again in Jan and I decided to purchase the full rough guide to New York and I am not disappointed. I have also order the mini rough guide to carry round New York when I get there. The information contained within the book is well written and informative. The maps at the back are a god's send and must not be under estimated in the overall picture and use of this product. I would recommend this title to anyone wanting a comprehensive guide of New York.

We are planning a fly-drive trip to the USA and we have been looking for information/things to do in places.We initially looked at the Foders books but then stumbled across this book. What a fantastic informative book, the only problem with having this book is we need to book a longer holiday !!! It is excellent value for money and a must have for fly-drive touring of the USA.

I recently spent some time touring around New Zealand and this guide was my constant companion(as well as my wife).For your money you get an extemely comprehensive guide to one of the most beautiful countries in the world.From the lush green farmland of the north island to the barren desolate stretches of the south island "Gods own country" has it all. Each area is dealt with in separate chapters and each chapter begins with the "highlights" of the area,so if the highlights dont appeal keep driving!
