This guidebook provides good advice on the major walking routes in New Zealand, but very little gets mentioned in the blurb about the seasons when the walks can be carried out. Having come to NZ in their winter, only two of the walks are possible, the others being on paths closed or too dangerous in snowy conditions.
Still good for summer though!

Travel books should be up to date (or as much as publishing and printing time allows) and this was published in August 2000 and is probably the latest book on Moscow. But it's also full of what you need to know for a visit to Moscow, with a wide range of topics covered. It also covers both the cheap and the expensive ends of the hotel and restaurant markets. One criticism: the maps are not very clear; the type is too small. All in all, a good book to plan your trip and take with you.

I've lived in and travelled around Ukraine for the past year. The LP guide is (as I often find with LP) out of date, inaccurate and all too brief on areas which deserve more. The entry for Vylkovo (for example), a town in Southern Ukraine, runs along the lines of 'I've never been there but lots of people who do go there like it.' Is that REALLY what a good, helpful guidebook should say? All information abut Odessa is thoroughly outdated (almost all hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs listed no longer exist), and, where other readers may not appreciate the 'background' information provided by Bradt, I think this information adds to a much fuller understanding of place, people and culture. If you're coming to Ukraine for more than a few days, ... Read More:

Travel : Las Vegas (Lonely Planet City Guide)
I am a big fan of Lonely planet books and have plenty of them on my selves. But this was probably the worst one that I have from them. I found that there was not really enough information about what to do, see and find in all of the casinos and that there was too much information which I personally found unuseful and unhelpful.

The best part of the book was the history of Vegas, which I found very interesting.

I would actually say that if you are going to Vegas that you probably don't even need such a book. There is so much in all of the Casinos that after 4 days we did not see no where near all of the free things, let along the other things which you can pay to see (the dolphins in the Mirage for example). If you want bad advice written by people who sound like they went around rubbing all Floridians up the wrong way read this. I made the mistake of booking some of the hostels listed in here only to arrive at my destination to discover that I could not have picked a grottier rip off to stay in. Luckily I had researched my destination independently and so only a few nights were spoilt by the advice in this lonely planet. The prices are very inaccurate and the advice it gives about the friendliness of people is utter rubbish. Miami and Key West were just two of the places that this Lonely Planet writer said the people were unfriendly in and that proved to be completely false.
My advice would be to take everything in this guide with a pinch ... Read More:
