VHS : Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Im only 17years old and i am obsessed with Jane Austen! Ive watched both versions of Pride and Prejudice as it's my favourite of the Austen collection. I think Keira was better for the character Elizabeth Bennet for certain, but i think Colin firth was amazing at playing darcey as i find him so sexy, but Matthew Macfadyen created more chemistry between them both! I think in the newer version you can see the tension between them both all the time and your just shouting at the tv coz you get frustrated at them both. I think the newer version is sooo much better without a doubt, but the older one if still very good. Id personally prefer the newer one!!!!!

VHS : Fairy Tale - A True Story [1998]
What a charming film with the late great Bob Peck. I knew nothing about this film, even though it was shot near where I come from in Keighley, until I read about it in MADE IN YORKSHIRE. It is also based on true events which happened in Yorkshire.

I had thought it must be dire otherwise I would have heard about. How wrong I was. Was it shown in the cinema ? I have a job tracking it down but found a copy in the Keighley lending library.

Check it out as its well worth watching.

When it aired in my country in the summer of 2002 and i loved it. it was one of the best mini series i have ever watched. i don't know if it was the subject, gay romance in 19 century England, but this is to this day still in my top 5 of most see mini series.
the plot, the script, the character and the acting are amazing. you can tell it is BBC made due to it's quality.
i highly recommend it and If you don't want to buy try and rent it from somewhere I promise it be worth it.

What a thrill this film was to watch; it was hilarious, scary, gruesome; and all at 100mph!! I found this purely by chance in the video shop: Starring Christopher Ecclestone and written by Jimmy McGovern: MUST be a safe bet, and it was. Highly recommended for the adrenalin factor. (Christopher Eccleston magnificent as ever).

Heaven help anyone getting married whose mates take an interest in this potty film ! It certainly should have a do not try this at home tag . What happens to Martin Clunes is pretty cruel - but the cast rescue it from being just Men Behaving Badly The Movie as does the scripting . One does wonder why the Carry On's could not have thought up this idea in the late 1970's . It would have made a great adult movie style challenge to the Confessions Films . A typically British film which like Four Weddings & a Funeral , Love Actually , Calander Girls & The Full Monty prove that there is still a market for such home grown movies . Nice to see another British success story at the box office - those finance people who told Peter Rogers that Carry On Again ... Read More:

In the 18th century much had already been achieved in the exploration of the world: In addition to the achievements of Columbus, Cabot , Vespucci, Cartier, da Gama and others in the discovery of the Americas, Portuguese sailors commissioned by Prince Henry the Navigator (1394-1460) had sailed along the western African coast; Bartolomeu Dias (1457-1500) had circumnavigated the Cape of Good Hope; Vasco da Gama had been the first explorer to reach India by sea (1498); 1518-19 had seen Francisco Magellan's almost-complete global circumnavigation; in the mid-16th century Portuguese merchants and Jesuit missionaries had made contact with Japan; and about 50 years later the Dutch had established their first trading posts in South-East Asia. On their voyages, these early ... Read More:
